I took a deep breath to calm down, but the sad thoughts kept coming. ******** As I walked through the halls of the house, I saw Artemis in the courtyard. She was talking to Kane, her head tilted back as she laughed at something he said. Hearing her laugh made me feel angry. Kane leaned in closer, looking too friendly. She didn’t move away. I felt something dark and angry in my chest. My jaw clenched, and my hands became fists. I couldn’t hear their words, but the way Kane looked at her—smiling and staring at her face—made me very angry.

He just took a long sigh before speaking again. "Alright. Seb and I will try to talk to her. She misses you so much." I just smiled bitterly. “I miss her so much too… Spoil her for a while. Until I get back. Thank you, Ares, and I'm sorry to you and Seb," I said, making him laugh. "As if we are not family, Artemis. This is nothing. We treat my niece as our own daughter too, you know," he said. I'm just glad that I have Ares and Seb with me.

I knew he needed to be alone so he could get his bearings in order, but now he seemed to be missing. “OH MY GODDESS!!!!” Artemis screams through the phone and I quickly remove it from my ear before she breaks my eardrum. “Shit! I am happy for you, and I can’t wait to meet my new sister, but Owen must be completely beside himself. I can’t imagine seeing my mate on another person! We gotta get to him NOW, and make sure he is alright!” I couldn’t have agreed more. “Don’t worry sis, I totally agree. My perfect, beautiful Freya completely understands”

Pelin’s POV Artemis let out an exaggerated sigh and twirled in the air like she was bored of us. “This simply won’t do. I am here to play, so play it well, girls.” Then she blew us a mocking kiss. “For good luck,” she said in a venomously sweet tone. “Par…” Cancer started. “Sssh! Don’t bore me with your talking. If you’re going to do it, get on with it already!” Artemis said and waved him off in annoyance.

-VALEN'S POV- “Don't give up!” My pleading tenor rang out. “I’m going to kill you,” Raina growled, slicing a finger under her throat. “Play now and take my head later,” I replied, flustered and loathing the fact that the mind-link was blocked. Explanations could follow afterwards. Right now, we need our brains in this game. “Caladan, these two are going to make us cry.” Artemis wrinkled up her face, faking sobs and sniffles. The panda cub imitated her with low squeals as he decided to slide down the arc of the crescent moon.

Caroline started feeling restless all of a sudden. She could sense that something wasn’t right. “Mamma!!” Artin’s words diverted her attention. “Stories, pleaseeeee.” “Then you will sleep, right?” “Yes,” Artin said, nodding his head. * ‘She is not my mate.’ Artemis kept telling his mind and stepping behind the fake Caroline. At the same time, she was walking toward him with a smirk on her face. Immediately he stumbled and fell on the couch.

Archie growls. Yaya purses her lips, looking absolutely furious with Archie. Her cheeks turn red in embarrassment from his comment about spanking her. If I wasn’t feeling so much contempt for her, I may pity her. I flick my gaze between her and Archie; Archie shoots Yaya a wink. The anger bubbling between them is slowly being replaced with sexual tension. Gross. “Hey! That’s my sister, you Neanderthal!” Artemis rasps, trying to break free of his restraints.

I yell at him and stand so that he isn’t towering over me more than necessary. “You are going to be my wife! I can tell you to stay away from any man trying to take you away from me!” I growl in frustration. “No one is trying to take me away Artemis! He’s teases about being with me, but he has a boyfriend so calm down!” That has his mouth snapping shut. “What?” “He’s gay Artemis. It’s a joke between us. Okay? Will you calm down this caveman shit? It looks bad on you.”

Then he passes by as though I’m nothing but a speck of dust on his feet. “G-G…Ga-be.” I manage to force the words out of my lips, desperately reaching for the sweet boy who’d been a bit of a relief to me for these few days, but he’s already gone, never turning back even once. “Aww, the sting of betrayal. I’m thinking about basing the school’s next drama on a story like this. It’d be a musical titled ‘Seraphina and the peanut.’ A beautiful tragedy about a human girl who thought she stood a chance.” Artemis speaks now, taunting me with that cruel grin on his lips.

The White Snake growled when she began to feel her whole body — veins and heart become overwhelmed by a boiling wave of indignation. Her eyelids were trembling helplessly as tears continued to flood her face — her body was breaking down with fear. "I am afraid I cannot let you do that! The orders of Liam, Your Highness. She took careful steps close to Adelaide and left a good personal space between them.
