I’d spent most of the day holed up in our bedroom, too afraid to even look out the window.
I knew this was a part of Arthur’s life, that the media had always been a looming presence, but I hadn’t really understood what that meant until now. Until I was the one they were talking about, the one they were tearing apart.
I was lost in my thoughts when Arthur finally came into the room, looking more exhausted than I’d ever seen him. He sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing his temples like he was trying to ward off a headache.
