She’s gone.
I spot my brother shaking hands with a group of men, and sharing a laugh. Squeezing between him and my father, I place a hand on his shoulder and whisper in his ear, “Where’s Piper?”
“Ethan,” my dad says. “Have you met Mr. James?”
“No, Sir,” I reply, shaking the man’s hand.
“He is the CEO of Vanderbilt. They’ve invested a great amount over the years and he is an old family friend.”
I swallow, looking the man in the eye, waiting for him to know something about me. But he seems clueless, like maybe part of his job isn’t watching Piper’s every step.
