I opened it to find an animated sticker—a cute little cat apologizing. I didn’t bother scrolling through the rest of his messages. Taking a deep breath, I pressed delete. Nine years of chat history vanished in an instant. My fingers trembled slightly as I stared at the now blank screen. After steadying myself, I walked out of the airport. My mom had already texted to say they were waiting outside. I couldn’t let them notice anything was wrong. I didn’t want them to worry. I was worried about how I’d find my parents in such a crowded airport, but from a distance, I spotted a large banner that read, “Welcome home, our darling Gina!”

Too empty. And the strangest part? I miss him before he even turns the corner. Back in my room, I collapse onto my bed, pressing a hand to my chest. My heart still races. Not from fear. Not from Ryan. Not from the whispers. But from him. From the way he said I want you to choose me. From the sincerity I didn’t expect. From the vulnerability I never imagined an Alpha could show. For half a second, I worry I broke him. “Say that again,” he whispers. I smile, tears stinging my eyes. “I choose you. Not because I’m scared. Not because I need protection. Because I want you. Because when the world goes quiet, you’re who I look for.” His breath shudders out of him. He steps forward like he’s afraid I’ll disappear if he moves too fast. His hands hover at my waist, unsure.

Or Sarah? Either choice carried consequences. Heavy ones.

You simply need to choose when, and with whom, to walk through it. And I chose.

No longer a victim. Because now I had chosen. And my choice was Aedan.

"Answer me! What do you mean by that?" She checked her watch. She didn't want to argue with him, so she said, "I don't mean anything. I'm going on a business trip." Timothy wanted to probe her more, but he swallowed his questions and pulled a small bag from his pocket. "I remember that you've always loved the necklaces from this brand, so I bought you one." Madeline looked up to see the charitable look in his eyes. Instead of accepting the bag, she walked back to the couch and sat down. "I lost interest in that brand ages ago. Give that to someone who does like it."
