“Thank you for honoring my invitation, Your Highness.” Alpha Kael bowed again, his gaze fixed on me. “And if I may ask, who’s the lady beside you?” I felt Clinton stiffen beside me, but I kept my eyes on Alpha Kael, who was still smiling. With a fake smile plastered on my face, I cooed, “I am Natasha Jones, the King’s distant cousin.” I lied. Alpha Kael hummed, nodding slowly. “You’re welcome to my pack, Lady Natasha.” He bowed dramatically before shifting his attention to Clinton. “Please, have a seat.”

ME: At the front of the house. Minutes later, the gate opens and Astrid walks out, the sight of her almost makes my heart stop, she’s dressed in a light navy dress that stops at her mid-thigh, her thick blonde hair is let out in waves, draping over her shoulders, she’s not wearing any make-up, but she looks dazzling either still. “Hey, Vixen.” I take her into my arms when she approaches me, breathing in her rosy scent, damn, this woman is going to be the end of me.

All of a sudden, I wasn't hungry anymore, which made me feel bad because she had just taken the time to make it for me. But without me having to say anything, so reached over, taking the toast away from me. "I don't know why you're here, and I know people are upset about you being here, but Alpha is a good man despite all the stroys, and for whatever reason he has brought you here, he would have your best interests at heart, and you will be safe. For a moment, it felt like we were just old friends gossiping. It was nice. I filled her in on some of the weird stuff that had happened – Adrian breastfeeding, Storm’s crazy outfits, our plan with the black rocks. We chatted easily, almost as though Astrid wasn’t in a cage dressed like a ballerina and there wasn’t a war back at home with our packs. But then a voice interrupted us.

What if you just go home and take a rest?” “I’m fine,” Astrid replied lazily to Martha, her best friend at St. Margareth Learning Center where they work as preschool teachers. Martha has been her friend since college so she knows everything that has happened and is happening in her life.

Hera stated in a loud voice. Astrid's pupils rolled. "Geez! Hera, you are like those husbands of us, always overacting. Of course my daughter has a boyfriend—" "—see!" Astrid shushed, Hera. "Alright! Calm down. My Winter has a boyfriend like a friend, an opposite gender friend not in a romantic way of boyfriend," Astrid paused for a moment to show her arms her hair rose up. "See this?" She asked, Hera. "I'm having goosebumps just thinking that my five-year-old daughter has a romantic boyfriend."

she said with a smile and watched Andrew grab a drink, but was stopped by someone suddenly. A girl approached Astrid. "Hi, I'm Hilda Mills," she said in a friendly tone. "Oh, I'm Astrid Walton," Astrid responded friendly. "Yeah, you know, I was over there when you walked in, and your dress caught my attention." She said with a smile.🙂 "Oh, thank you," Astrid replied with a smile. "I love your dress; it's beautiful."she said "Thank you," Astrid replied.

All four of these women are impossibly gorgeous, and I’m feeling a little self-conscious as I stand across from them with tangly, windblown hair, dressed in borrowed clothes that don’t fit quite right. “Sorry for barging in like this, we’re just so excited you’re here!” the little curly-haired one chirps enthusiastically. She must be able to read the confusion on my face because she quickly goes on to elaborate. “You met our mates this morning. I’m Astrid, and this is Quinn, Brooke, and Fallon,” she says, pointing to each of the other girls as she names them off. “Nice to meet you all,” I breathe, smoothing my hair with a hand and stepping closer. “Are you part of Reid’s pack, or…”

I approached the guarded gate with no resemblance to that shy girl who'd been cast out. The two Beta guards, towering wolves both with Damon's cold eyes, immediately sighted me. "Well, well, well.
