I stared at the screen as the final line burned itself into my mind. Tick... Tock

" My mouth slowly curved into a faint smile. A single tear of blood slipped from the corner of my eye. In Claire's terrified cry, I lost consciousness. My mind drifted through pain and static. Then a white light opened somewhere deep inside my memory. It was ten years ago, a quiet afternoon in the woods behind the school.

And memory, it was discovering, could be terrifying. The signal suddenly fluctuated. The room froze. Then a transmission arrived. One sentence. Simple. Direct. I REMEMBER THEM. Silence. Nobody spoke. Because somehow those three words carried more emotion than all its previous speeches. The machine slowly lowered his head. "What does that mean?" Elena asked softly. The machine looked toward the stars. "It means the memories are no longer shared." A pause. "They belong only to it now." The reality hit the room like a physical weight.

My mind goes blank. ** END OF FLASHBACK**

Mark said pretty much excited and before I could say no, he was out of sight, "Hmm" I sighed softly,I miss her, I missed her so much. If wishes were horses, if only wishes were horses. He added. Mukgu was waiting for the complete answer. “But what?” She asked. Zuno looked at her again. “His system will restart, meaning it will be back to zero. His memory won't be regained anymore.” Zuno explained the harsh truth. Mukgu bit her lip. She felt sad. “So, those memories of us, he won’t remember that anymore, Zuno? Mukgu asked for a clarification. Zuno nodded. “Yes, you are right. But, you can make new memories right?” Zuno said to not let Mukgu down.

I had loved my grandfather and I never even met him and to have him break my heart like this was just too much to bear. So without thinking I was doing the one thing that would make everyone happy. I looked over at the neuroscientist with my resolve and spoke the words that would be the end of who I was, hopefully forever. “You can erase my memories, I have no need for them since Bella Emerson is dead.”

"Are you sure you're not going back?" In the Sacred Hall's moonlit garden, Kane and I sat side by side on the stone steps. I'd been back at Sacred Hall for a week now, and the tranquility here had finally helped me move past the darkness. "Yes, I'm sure." I nodded. "There's nothing left there worth holding onto." Kane turned to look at me. There was an emotion in his eyes I couldn't quite read. "What about your friends?"

“Host, they owe you a debt. It is time they paid it back.” Then its body slowly turned transparent. “Memory extraction complete. “Memory Broadcast Protocol activated.” Before I could tighten my fingers around its tiny paw, the last of its energy burned out. It dissolved into a wisp of pale smoke and vanished without a trace. With everything it had left, the System began broadcasting my memories. The screen in the morgue went black. When it lit up again, it was playing a memory from the year I turned ten. Back then, I had been hiding behind a door.

The meaning behind those words was far too disturbing. Because the End remembered everyone. Every civilization. Every world. Every life. Not as memories. As possessions. As treasures. As things it refused to let go. Orion slowly turned toward the others. His silver eyes were troubled. "The more it remembers, the stronger it becomes." Lyra frowned. "Because memory is power?" Orion nodded. "Because forgotten things cannot influence the world." Silence. The implication hit everyone at once. The End collected memories. Stored them. Preserved them.
