His white dress shirt was unbuttoned halfway down his chest, exposing the tanned skin and the edge of his tattoo. But it was his hand that stole the air from my lungs. His belt was undone, his zipper was down. His large hand was inside his trousers, moving in a slow stroke. He looked at the camera. His eyes were dark, heavy-lidded, and focused entirely on me. "Hi, Sunshine," his voice came through the AirPods, deep and rich, wrapping around my brain like smoke. "Luca," I whispered, barely mouthing the word. "Don't speak," he commanded softly. "Just listen and watch."

Alejandro I opened my eyes to light that didn’t hurt, sunlight that felt like it had been poured into the world just for us. The meadow stretched endlessly, every blade of grass humming with quiet energy, and the air itself seemed to pulse with life. The way his eyes remained locked with mine made me just a little giddy. When his shirt was off, he picked up the Stetson and placed it on his head. Then he leaned over and snatched the toothpick from Mateo’s mouth, too. “What about now, my beautiful wolf?” he asked with a thick southern drawl.

Ezra called. Sebastian smirked. “They’re blooming too.” Across the road, the Atwells were already grilling. Rachel, in her usual crisp white, sat with sunglasses perched on her nose, sipping from a tall glass of “lemonade.” Priya waved from her porch. Tomas and Felix shuffled over with pizza boxes, nodding at everyone with shy smiles. Ezra wiped sweat from his brow and nodded toward the gathering. “Looks like we’re being summoned.”

I can say his unique personality piqued my interest just as how much The Flesh sparked my horror. Ezra brushed his shiny black bangs behind his ears—revealing a hearing device that most of my mother’s special recruits wore—and brought the tea cup before handing it to me. As I took a sip, a sigh escaped my mouth from the relief Ezra’s special tea blend afflicted upon my insides. The tea he made is thin yet it’s not dry, a suitable condiment to take especially if you’re tired on the previous day. I guess managing Elaine’s rescuing process drained the last bit of youth energy I had left in me. I took another sip and heaved another sigh.

Once you’re dead, the marriage will end on its own.” Before I could react, someone behind me clamped a cloth over my mouth and everything went black. When I came to again, I was on an abandoned rooftop. My vision was still blurry. I had just managed to steady myself when the door was kicked open. “Summer!” John sounded really furious. I snapped back to my senses and realized there was a scalpel in my hand.

Gem softly announced and Juan who was in the middle of sobbing stopped immediately and looked at Gem with sparkling eyes. “Tell me, is there a way to retrieve my elixir?” Gem smiled and responded, “yes, the elixir is still there but it is just going through some upgrade and it will be ready in twenty-four hours.” Hearing that Juan was sad now became cheerful, “that is good then. I can now digest the information freely. Help me look into the supernatural while I ponder the issue.” Gem nodded her head showing that she understood and disappeared. Juanita looked into the farm screen and saw that the elixir was being upgraded and she was at ease once more.
