Chapter 1 Since the day she was born, Kate had been raised to be a strong Alpha within her father’s pack. She was the first and only child born to her father, Alpha Jackson, and her mom, Luna Julia. While there had been disappointment and heartache for her parents that they could not have more children, her parents believed strongly this was the desire of the Moon Goddess – that Kate was to become one of the few female Alphas to run a pack throughout the continent.

“Gineth’s friend! Just say, hi!” Gineth laughed, but the person on the other end scowled. His gaze lingered on the screen. I bit my lip as he continued to scrutinize me. It felt like he was sucking me into the screen. I waved and smiled, but the guy just gave a tight-lipped response. “Why would I say hi? I don’t know her,” he said in a cold and deep voice. We exchanged glances with Neth. She raised an eyebrow as she removed the screen from me. “Why so cold, Calix? She’s Athena! She’s my relative!” Neth said with a laugh.

I answered "What's on your mind?" I asked Gio because he seemed absent-minded "Just wondering. What does Athena have to do with all of this?" "I don't know maybe because she is his daughter?" I answered not trying to hide the irritation in my voice. How could he fail to see the reason? "STEP-daughter. If you haven't noticed she hates his guts" Gio countered "Yeah. Some say she ran away from him when she was 15 just two years after her mom passed. Guess she couldn't stand all his shit" Luca added

Nobody was looking at me. ‘A mistake. Has to be a mistake.’ “Yaya, come on,” Athena tugged at my wrist, leading me toward the taco stand. ************************** We grabbed food and started the short walk home. Athena filled the air with chatter about her latest conquest. “He was built like the Hulk,” she said dreamily, stuffing her face with tortilla. “So many tattoos, like—an art gallery, but sexier. I drooled on him twice. He had to flip me into doggy just to save his sheets.”

The room falls into an eerie silver glow that pulses in time with my heartbeat. “I can’t stop it,” I whisper, terror clawing up my throat. Blake turns back to me, voice suddenly low. Careful. “Then don’t.” “What?” “Stop trying to cage it,” he says. “Let it move through you.” Ethan shakes his head violently. “No. She’s not a weapon.” Blake’s eyes flick back to him. “Neither was the Goddess who bore the Crown before her.” The words strike something deep. I break. I stop fighting.

Whoever Athena was, there was some resemblance between she and her, and that girl, had taken her life by poison. "Don't just stand there looking daft and follow me!" The woman snapped irritatedly and walked away, bending in the corners. Anna followed after her immediately, her legs moving fast. "This was her room." The woman opened the door to the room and Anna looked around it. It was a huge beautiful fit for nothing less than a queen. "Who was she?.......ma?" She asked. "Call me Diane." The woman said, taking a deep breath, "She was such a lively and beautiful girl, Athena. She was also the mate to Lycan Xandros. Elegant with such a smile that could melt anyone's heart."

I look around at the men with Steven, who all look from me to him. "What's she talking about?" one of them asks. The way Sal is looking, I can tell he doesn't know either. I never could get a good read on Sal. He and his mate always kept to themselves. "So, I'm right — you didn't tell them. You see, Steven and Marie are not my parents. Athena, the goddess of war, is my mother. She sent me here to fight in her place. That's why I have two mates and why we're all three covered in the gold markings of the gods. Is this a fight you really want to engage in?" I look at Vaughn, and he picks up a huge boulder and throws it in the air. When it comes down, he punches it, making it turn into sand.

“Saint! Knock it off!” “Sorry, you’re just so sexy when you’re in charge.” He says with a low growl and lets his hand rest on my ass. “Hedone, enough.” Sy hisses at a beautiful teenage girl whose sun bleached hair makes her tan skin look even deeper bronze. “Sorry, Mama. They’re just so cute together.” She giggles and snaps her fingers. Saint moves his hand to my waist and looks around, slightly confused. “Apologies for the interruption.” Sy bows again. “This is our daughter, Hedone. Goddess of Sensual Pleasure.”

Maya’s POV “Your Highness,” a contestant bowed daintily in a unique style. She lightly bent her knees with folded hands to the side while long, thick eyelashes shyly looked down. Her hair cascaded in waves of curly brown locks while her side braids were woven with colorful threads and beads. Even looking down, her sharp features stood out. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Her name tag read ‘Athena.’ As far as I remembered, she was the former Luna’s favorite niece.
