“You can drop the formalities.” Helion leans against the doorframe with his arms crossed over his white tank top. He’s one of the young ones–twenty-five–full of spite and fire. I was like him once. Ready to burn the world at the slightest inconvenience. That type of man is actually the kind of warrior I want in my ranks. They’re the hardest to break but the best in situations that require immediate action, when the body must separate from the rational mind. What kind of monster have I become?

There he was in his full glory, standing tall at 6'5", bulky and muscular. His dark brown hair, cut short and a week-old stubble making him look stunning. Wearing military pants with a plain white Tshirt, he was standing with his hands held back. His voice was smooth, but too polished. “Good,” I said, circling the cedar pillar so we enclosed him in a parabola. “Trean, then answer—who is the duty commander replacing post two at dawn?” He blinked. His helmet flew off, revealing the thin hood hidden beneath it, and beneath the hairline—a black tattoo crawling like ice cracks.

I took a deep breath to control my tears. Leo looked at me concerned knowing I was attacked while protecting him. “Are you alright, Miss warrior?” I gently caressed his head and smiled confidently to make him feel at ease, even though the gash on my back hurt. “Don’t worry I am fine, I am one of the strongest warriors afterall. I will protect you no matter what.” I swallowed hard, forcing calm into my voice. “Rest. You’re safe now.” But he wasn’t. And I knew it. Because if someone had sold him out once, they could do it again.

“Because from this day forward, they’ll see you as what you are.” “What’s that?” “My Luna. Their Luna.” I hesitated, then smiled against his shirt. “Then you better start preparing them. Because I’m not exactly the soft, smiling kind of leader.” He pulled back just enough to tilt my chin up. “Good. Because I didn’t fall in love with soft and smiling. I fell in love with a warrior.” “A blind warrior.” “A warrior who sees more than anyone else.” I bit my lip. “You’re going to make me cry.”

"Until it's instinct." Their voices rose in unison, a rough chorus of acknowledgment. "Yes, Luna." The young warrior attacked once more, faster, testing me with a feint toward my left side. I spun around with ease, driving him back, and, putting my weight into him, held him until his shield edged up stiff against the line. This time, the impact resounded sharp and solid. No weakness. A pause stretched. Then the scarred warrior nodded once, approval shining in his eyes. The others followed, one by one.

Urged on by his support, the warriors moved again. So did I. A Warrior came at me brazenly from the front. In one swift motion, I knocked his feet out from under him, so that he landed with a deafening thud on the hard ground. Maya shouted, and I turned to see one of the men had her by the hair.

We are the Titan warriors, and weakness cannot hold us back. ‘Power, it is time for war,’ I told my wolf. “Sekani, get the Agat leaves, squeeze the juice out of them, and give it to everyone to apply. Daka, tell the men at the palace to get the horses ready. Jago, follow me. Claudia has some questions to answer.”
