*Aurora’s P.O.V.* My head hung low as I stood before Alpha Griffin, the ruthless leader of the Midnight Shadow Pack, one of the most feared Alphas in the world. "Dad, can you believe this filthy thing left my dress in the storeroom for people to use as a damn foot mat!" Sabrina seethed, pointing accusingly at me. I rolled my eyes slightly, lifting my head just enough to glare at her. "Is this true, Aurora?" Alpha Griffin inquired, his voice low and dangerous.

Now, Aurora stood in front of the door without daring to knock. Her hands clenched each other nervously. Anton, who was by Aurora's side, closely observed her demeanor, which had been anxious since the kidnapping incident. The cheerful and super confident Aurora had now turned into a somber girl. Even during her two-night stay in the hospital, Aurora could never sleep peacefully; the traumatic event always haunted her dreams. They sat in an awkward silence until the man coughed twice to gain attention. Aurora was forced to look at him in the face since she believed that it's quite disrespectful not to talk to someone without looking at them directly. The man then folded his hands and looked directly at her. "So tell me, Miss Noels, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?" he asked, his voice unpleasant. Despite this, Aurora could not permit herself to show any sign of discomfort.

Quick, awkward, almost hysterical. “Excuse me, what? My mother isn't human now?” The old man did not answer. He just watched her, impassive. “She raised me alone. She cried watching soap operas. She hated insects. She made pancakes on Sundays.” Aurora shook her head. Her eyes blinked too fast. A heat rose to her cheeks. She didn't know if it was anger, fear, or something she couldn't name.

While they waited for somebody to get the door, he bent down and whispered into Aurora’s ear: “…Can’t we just bust inside?” Aurora shook her head, “No. Lord Rolf is a friend of Lance. I don’t want to heat things up until we have more proofs.” A series of light footsteps came from the inside. A middle-aged man emerged from the darkness, looking like a butler or house staff. He opened the iron gate a crack and peeked outside, warily. “Who are you?” he asked. “I am Aurora Manning, Alpha Lance’s sister and Gamma,” Aurora introduced herself. “We are here because of a crime that happened nearby. Can you open the door please?”
