“Yes, you were,” Kira pressed, her voice unyielding. “Tell me why.”
Alana shifted uncomfortably, the tension in the room thickening.
“I asked you a question,” Kira continued, stepping closer. “And if you don’t answer, I’ll have the Alpha ask it instead.”
“No!” Alana exclaimed, panic flashing in her eyes. “No, I’ll tell you.”
She took a shaky breath, her words spilling out in a rush. “Austin—the man you know as Richard—told me about the silver flames. He mentioned an old prophecy tied to them. I didn’t think they were real. I thought he made it up.”
