I couldn’t bear to see another wolf or human right now. “I can hear your eyes twitch.” The voice was so deep and close that I stopped breathing, then a chuckle came after. “Breathe Avara. Don’t die.” Avara. It sounded so good on his tongue. My heart fluttered for some reason and I couldn’t stop it, it had a mind of its own. On cue, I relaxed, taking small breaths at a time. “That’s it. You’re doing well,” The tips of his fingers traced my skin and it almost made me hitch my chest but I ended up bringing out shaky breaths. I felt a small dip beside the bed and soon, I could feel someone looming over me.

Interestingly, his eyes never jolted her, only his touch, and this wasn’t the only mystifying thing about him; her gift did not work on him. In slipping out of his grip, she wondered how Lucian and Antonio were faring, and then she turned abruptly to him. Lucian's prediction of a second protector was correct. It was Zuker. “What do you know about the exalted azure?” she asked him. “Do they still exist?” was his response. The loud creaking from the door caught their attention. They watched as it closed shut and disappeared into a sandy beach. “How do we even know when it’s time to leave this place?” She wondered.

He had expected nothing different, yet it still enraged him to see how far she was willing to go to protect that ugly monster. "Why?" Azriel asked, disapproval written across his face. "You think you can defeat him, but he is not that simple to take down," Violet stated, not an ounce of doubt in her tone. Zen wasn't a mortal like them. He wasn't that easy to overcome. Only Aurielus had that power. Firstly, she no longer possessed the power. Secondly, even if she were to somehow get them there, it would result only in another catastrophe for them. With a steadying breath, he began speaking, his voice calm but resolute. "Devin, I need to talk to you about something important," Azure said, his voice carrying a sense of earnestness. "I've come to realize that my true potential lies in serving the Eirian and becoming powerful. I want to prove my loyalty to you, to the cause. I believe that with your guidance, I can achieve great things." Devin studied Azure's face, his eyes flickering with a combination of curiosity and calculation. He seemed intrigued by Azure's sudden determination, yet remained cautious. His response held a note of caution, as he weighed the sincerity behind Azure's words.

“I don’t want anyone else. Yoelle, I want you. I won’t allow you to leave with another man.” Then Auron lunged at Abyron. Abyron glanced at him and said calmly, “You’re overestimating yourself.” He leapt into the air. I cried out, “No!” I tried to stand in front of Auron, but it was too late. Abyron’s attack shot straight toward him. Just when I thought Auron would be killed, a golden light appeared around him and blocked the attack completely. I was stunned. Abyron’s eyes went wide. “You’re not human. Who are you?”

Asteria laced her fingers with mine and led the way. "Girls..." The two little girls looked up at us with wonder. "Prince..." the older one said, and Asteria nodded. Warriors rushed forward to meet them, steel clashing against claws, growls and screams blending. Magic exploded around us, fire, light, shadows, and energy crashing into one another. Azriel shifted mid-stride, his massive wolf bursting free in a blur of power and fury. He tore through rogues like a force of nature, his strength unmatched, his rage terrifying.
