Chapter 11: The Enemy's Plan Kael's POV The night was still, yet I knew a storm was brewing. Not the kind that came with wind and rain, no this one was different. This was a storm of power shifting, borders being tested, and blood would spill. I stood in my study, staring at the map of territories stretched across my desk. My gaze lingered on the Silverfang Pack's lands, their borders marked clearly in dark ink. Lucian Blackwood ruled there, and for too long, he had acted as if he were untouchable.

“We need one of the Ashwolves alive.” Lucious was already relaying my command through the mind-link to someone. “Full lockdown. No one in or out. Every warrior on alert. No one should be alone. Alpha wants one of them alive.” Everyone split into units, heading toward different directions in the territory. Alex stayed with me, along with three other warriors. We moved east, into the forest. Duskfire is vast. It's one of the biggest packs in the region. We picked up the faint trail and followed it for almost an hour. The scent grew stronger. Nauseating. They smelled like pure death.

They were mismatched, built from salvaged parts and reinforced with heavy plating, looking more like armored beetles than birds of prey. A voice crackled over the emergency frequency, stripped of the polished arrogance of the Inner Rim packs. It was a woman’s voice, rough and steady, tempered by the cold of the Rift. "Unidentified pod, you are trespassing in the Grave of the Forsaken. State your lineage or prepare to be recycled."

Zara pov The morning air smelled of smoke and tension. I had barely begun to settle into the rhythm of my powers when the alarms sounded a sharp, piercing shriek that reverberated through the academy grounds. Wolves scattered, instincts screaming danger. Luna roared inside my mind, urging me to spring forward “The Forsaken”. I knew instantly. The energy I had sensed before ominous, dark, corrupted was here now, tangible and violent. They had come to test me, to see if the Alpha Queen of the academy was as strong as her awakening suggested.

It was a wolf with its throat torn open, a crown of thorns resting on its head. "The Forsaken," Hala whispered, her eyes wide. "They were the ones Silas exiled to the dead-lands. The 'monsters' he couldn't break." "They're serving the new Alpha," I noted, watching the discipline of their march. These weren't feral rogues; they were an army. Suddenly, the wind shifted. One of the warriors stopped. He didn't look up; he sniffed the air, his nostrils flaring. He turned toward our ridge, and for a split second, I saw his eyes. They weren't brown or gold. They were a dull, light-drinking grey.

The warrior groans but in no time the forsaken has already taken him down. More forsaken began to come out from different directions. Alden and the other warriors were rooted in a spot, their backs were turned to each other in a circle, their hearts raced. “ Cover the Alpha,” Another warrior screamed. The forsaken rushed at them, Alden ran away from there. Some forsakens ran after him. While the rest continue to deal with the other warriors. Alden continued running and he was panting heavily, he could hear the steps of the forsaken behind him.

It was in that exact moment of exhaustion that my Lycan finally roared to life, clawing her way to the surface. “They aren't bringing in reinforcements, Seraphina." Her voice echoed through our shared consciousness, erratic and sharp as a razor. “Look closer at their bodies. They aren’t really dead.” A cold shudder went down my spine as I ducked beneath the swinging blade of a brainwashed rebel. I drove my palm into his chest, unleashing a concussive blast of S-rank energy that sent him flying into the dirt. I forced myself to look. To really look at the fallen bodies scattered across the blood-soaked grasses.

"Now, Elara! The Call. Bring light to bear, And sever their connection! Now!" I slipped off the back of Fenris, and my feet came to contact with the frosty ground. The air was full of pine and metal odor of blood. Under us, in the shadows in the canyon, there were other forms in motion. The army of Justin was a black tide, rushing quickly and famished. I felt their enmity; it was a cold wind on my flesh.

“If they call us forsaken, then let them see what the forsaken can do when the moon answers our call.” Their howls ripple through the trees — fierce, uncontained. “Tonight, we do not stand for vengeance alone,” I shout above them. “We stand to restore balance. The moon chose us — not for peace, but for reckoning.” The air thickens, heavy with spirit. “So when your claws find their mark, remember you are not striking from hate. You are striking from truth. You are the howl that rose from silence. And when dawn comes, the world will remember what the night dared to hide.”
