I asked by my gestures. "Eating meatballs at Takim's," replied Julia by her gestures. In the living room, I saw a pile and rows of old books. Books were not like academic books. Even if it was called a novel, it might be from the action-conspiracy-horror-thriller-mystery genre. Well, the title alone already made people goosebumps.

Brea said and her twin Roxie rolled her eyes. "Another bullshit fiction our ancestors wrote she must have been a shitty writer that's why all her books are stored up in the library decaying, what else is in the book?" she asked, typing on her phone, flipping her hair she'd dyed purple over her shoulder. Brea arched a brow "A different language, I'm guessing their spells or something." This made me a bit uncomfortable. "I don't think we should read that." Everyone looked at me and I tensed up "Um, hello has no one watched that one horror movie, where the dumb cast reads a book they shouldn't and all die?" I said with my jaw slacked open.

“The novel’s title is Shocking Shocked, and it tells the story of a guy who was electrocuted after disclosing shocking news?” I bit the bottom of my lip. “Well... It’s one of my favorite novels.” She slapped herself across the forehead. “Dainty! We should not read novels like these. I assumed you were interested in romantic novels, so I let you read books, and then I’ll know that you’re reading about terror and murder novels?!” My mouth was closed. What can I do if I’m not a fan of romance novels? Horror, mystery, and psychological stories are my favorite, and not romance. When I read a romantic novel, my whole body convulses. They simply do not appeal to me.

Zehra turned the last page of the novel she'd found in Lawrence's bedchamber earlier that day. It had been so wonderful to find an engaging read. She had read some English novels before, but never these "Gothic" ones, as Lawrence had called them, for they were rare in Shiraz, the area where she was from. The adventures of Lady Isabelle had distracted her from her loneliness for a time, but when she heard the click of the door opening her heart leapt.

I steeled myself and opened the door. The hallway was awash in red. Smears and spatters of bright and dark blood covered the walls, the floor, and my door. My head reeled. What the hell happened? Why was there so much blood outside my door? Hadn't the guy in 603 seen it through his peephole? I couldn't help looking toward apartment 603. To my surprise, the door stood half-open, and it was dead quiet inside. I picked my way past the bloodstains and made my way to apartment 603.

I glared at the book till I was on my bed and the book never opened - maybe it is my illusion. I ducked myself into the sheets and this time I could hear the flipping of a book - The book. I was scared as hell because when I was still young, I read a lot of horror stories without the consent of my mother, Nahigra. I stared until the last flip of a page. Gradually and slowly as I can, I left my bed to see what my eyesight can't comprehend. To my surprise, it was still that same chapter and a phrase written in bold, "WHEN EVERYTHING GOES SOUTH, DO NOT GO NUT?"

His wrinkled face looked like it was crawling with countless wriggling worms. I shuddered and stepped back, whispering to Silvia, "Good thing I've got you. This place is terrifying." She snorted and suddenly shoved me forward, straight toward George. With an icy laugh, she said, "This pretty boy will make a great offering. You're going to love him." Before I could react, George gestured, and several eerie puppets stepped forward to pin me down and drain my blood. A sharp bell rang out, echoing through the night.

I’d picked up a few new Stephen King novels last month at the used book sale at Bassler Memorial Library, so I figured on starting one of them. So I was surprised to find myself sitting up in my chair, blinking as if coming out of a long sleep, with The Way open in my lap, reading about “invoking the spirit of Ah-Tzenul through the nourishment of the sow’s blood.” I sat there and stared at The Way, wondering how the hell I’d gone and read it when I’d wanted to read something else. Also, how could I sit there for a whole hour and a half reading without remembering what I’d read!

I'll prefer TRUTH OR DARE. Sylvia said and the attendant shrugged.
