Tain clapped his hands excitedly before helping me attach it to my head. “I think we are almost there, everyone. I could almost see the end. After we arrive there, can you take off your heels, Mrs. Carter?” Nikolai asked, he introduced himself a while ago during the trip. “Take off my heels? Why?” I confusedly asked before squinting my eyes at him. Shouldn’t I be required to wear my heels? He looked at me from the rearview mirror, “Well, there is this tradition towards the supernatural. We have a close relationship with nature, so walking barefoot is a sign of respect.”

This entire situation smelled like trouble to him. “Her feet,” Grant explained. “They’re torn all to hell. She’d obviously been running for a while with no shoes on. Clearly, human feet are not meant to take that sort of a beating.” He wondered if she was even a shifter. Why would anyone run through the forest with no shoes on when they could utilize a wolf’s paws, which were meant to carry them over the rugged terrain of the woods?

I made my way to the back door, and I could feel the early breeze coming from the mountain, but I could also smell the saltwater coming from the other side. I sprinted in the direction of the woods, and I ran as fast as I could without taking a breath; I couldn't believe I could run so fast even if I were wearing no shoes, and I didn't feel tired or feel my pain on my feet, I know running barefoot on the woods could harm me. Still, it seems I felt invincible as of the moment, and I could feel my prey is within the area, and I smiled as I realized I could satisfy my hunger now, and I no longer care about my human nature as the need to have fresh meat consumed my mind.

I woke up late this morning and forgot to put on the band-aids. A painful mistake! I had a pair of flat shoes in my car for driving. I tried to put my foot back in the shoe and stand up, but the pain forced me to sit back down. The pain was unbearable! With my foot in this condition, every step in high heels would be torture. I checked the time, grimacing. It was 8:30 PM, and many people in the building were still working. Walking out barefoot would reflect poorly on JL Capital's image.

They were fluffy and unique. She liked these new clothes better, they looked great but her old clothes were comfier. Beauty must really matter in this world? She thought admiring the shoes on her little feet. The boys were given matching white sneakers. It was the right touch for what each of them wore but did it have to match? Neither of them liked wearing something that would connect the three of them. Miles and Alex hated it especially. They didn’t want to match in any aspect or any area of anything but going barefooted was not an option. They were barefooted before anyway.

She then trudged toward the car step by step. Opening the car door, she found the two cups, held them in her arms, and pressed on. The path was uneven and rocky, making walking extremely difficult. Clarice wobbled with every step, barely advancing a few meters at a time. Walking like this not only risked breaking her shoes but also hurt her feet. She often twisted her ankle after a couple of steps. To protect her delicate feet, she clenched her teeth, removed her heels, and walked barefoot on the uneven ground, moving much faster than before.

I didn't want to be a complete ditz. “Yeah,” I answered. The pain was fading, but it still hurt. “I just stepped on something sharp.” Aiden dropped to his knees a took my foot in his hand. His gentle fingers probed my flesh and I had to put my hand on his shoulder for balance because he was making my world spin with want. “You're barefoot again,” he chastised gently. “It doesn't look like you broke the skin, though. You have something against shoes?” “You're just as barefoot as I am,” I informed him. “Besides, who goes swimming with shoes?”

"Good. You can take a break for now. You can take off the shoes." I didn't waste any time as I bent down and removed the shoes. Throwing them to the side as if I had no care for them, which I don't. The ground seemed to comfort me as I fully felt the whole floor with my foot. I didn't even bother to look for my flats as I raced to the sofa. "Flat ground! Flat ground!" I rejoiced and ran barefooted. I wonder how some of these girls were able to bear wearing those heels. What a pain. I started to stretch my legs on the sofa not caring about manners anymore.
