Kissing the Ballerina
“I am so sorry you missed me, should I give you the ball so you will try again?”
I sniff and wipe at my nose with the back of my hand. “I wanted to hit your fucking face!” My voice comes out watery and hoarse. I am surprised at the curse that flew at of my mouth so effortlessly. “I wish I was not such a lousy throw.”
“That is okay,” he says calmly, “nobody needs to be an excellent thrower anyway. Except baseball players, of course. Besides, you are already a good ballet dancer.”
I burst into a fit of laughter. I know I must sound like a pig because I am snorting amidst the laughter and then I am crying again.
