"What's your bear’s name?" I asked quietly, pouring a splash of fresh orange juice into his glass.
Leo blinked, slightly startled by the direct question. He looked at the bear, then up at me. "Barnaby," he whispered, his voice incredibly small.
"Barnaby looks like he’s been on a lot of adventures," I observed, offering a warm, genuine smile. "Does he travel everywhere with you?"
"Yes," Leo said, his grip on his napkin loosening just a fraction. "He keeps me safe when it gets dark."
