Owned by the Ice King :He bought my debt. I never expected h

He almost walked past it. He'd gone to the magazine rack on a Tuesday morning in the way he'd taken to doing — not deliberately, just in the path between the kitchen and the sofa, a natural orbit that had developed over three weeks of sharing the space. The rack lived beside the reading chair, and it contained, in precise upright order: the Financial Times, two issues of The Economist, a quarterly publication from an international trade organization that Elijah had once opened and immediately closed, and one copy of the Harvard Business Review that had been there since his first week and had never, to his knowledge, been touched.

Conversion Camp

Conversion Camp

Rude as hell. The only thing that kept me from flipping the table was my new knight in shining armor, Jay. And here we go again, another endless Bible study. The same verses. The same “repent and be straight” speeches. I swear I’m one more “Amen” away from running into the woods and never coming back. I need fresh air. Fresh perspective. Fresh gay p*rn. Anything but this. While my brain is melting from holy boredom, a folded piece of paper slides across the table toward me. My eyebrows pull together as I slip it under my palm. The nuns aren’t looking, and Damian, sitting right next to me, seems half-asleep with boredom. Perfect.

Dark Water

Dark Water

"Just don't whine about it, it ain't befitting around here." "I don't know how you haven't got a permanent hangover," Lloyd snapped "especially since some alcohol gets stronger the longer it ferments." Getting up, he moved to look over the books on the shelf, noticing even Nathaniel owned a Bible, badly damaged with several pages torn from the worn leather. Inside, some passages were underlined with an angry hand and caustic comments etched into the margin. "Don't pry, lad," Nathaniel turned and plucked the book from Lloyd's hand, his nails scraping a red line down his knuckles in his swiftness. "Either ask or sit on your damn hands!"

MY BROTHER'S BEST FRIEND

MY BROTHER'S BEST FRIEND

I frown. "Why?" I asked. "I want to confirm something" he replied. I hum a yes to him before hanging up. I look through the window of my house. I touched my belly. "Welcome to your new home, baby" I said to my tummy. I smiled down at it. I looked to my right and noticed the journal Nina had given to me. I don't want to read it but I'm so curious what could be inside. I sat on the chair in front of the table and look at the black journal in front of me. One page wouldn't hurt, right. I opened the book and started reading.

Amy
I love the author's writing, and this is my third book. I love Isabella's character and her relationship with her brother. I am dying to know if Isabella will get her true love or if she will deal with heartbreak. Every chapter leaves me on edge, anticipating what will happen next. ...️

All I can say is give this book a chance. I didn't think I could like it but I kept reading it to see where it will take me, and once the chapters progressed there was no stopping very gripping events. I like the jumping to a few years chapters and flashbacks too. 98% detailed..

"Love Blooms Asunder"

"Love Blooms Asunder"

After she read her course handouts for the latest review and refresher, Nancy makes an educated guess about the duration of the Bar Exam preparation date. "Oh my Dear Lord, guide me where You wanted me to go, for it may be based on my ideas, which may be in accordance with Your beautiful plan, as I recollect what You instructed us, which states, “Because I am aware of my purposes for you, declares the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, plans to give you hope and a future," Nancy recalls what the Bible says as she prays, “Because I take great pleasure in You, Lord, and all Your works, please bless me now and for the rest of my life. I believe in Your promises.”

His Savior Was Never My Sister

His Savior Was Never My Sister

My fingers closed not around the cool metal of a derringer, as I’d half-expected, but around soft, worn leather. A journal. Caleb’s journal. The first pages were in a strong, elegant hand—entries from before the attack that put him in a coma. Observations on business, sketches of sailing yachts, notes on a violin concerto. Then came the gap. The next entries were different. The writing was faint, tremulous, a spider’s crawl across the page, as if the hand holding the pen fought against immense weight. Day unknown. There is a voice. It reads Dickens. Great Expectations. I hate that book. But I cling to the voice. It is an anchor in the dark.

Reborn Queen: The Hollywood Code

Reborn Queen: The Hollywood Code

I unwrapped the package with the care of a priest handling a sacred text. The notebook. It wasn't much to look at. A simple, black leather-bound journal, its cover worn smooth from years of handling. But the moment my fingers touched the familiar texture, a dangerous calm settled over me. The panic was gone. The confusion was gone. All that remained was purpose, cold and absolute. This was my bible. My grimoire. My vengeance.

Vashti's Daughter

Vashti's Daughter

In addition to the Song of Songs, the Book of Ruth, the Book of Lamentations, Ecclesiastes and the Book of Esther, their version included the Book of Vashti. At first, the decision to publish a new bible created a major uproar in both the Jewish and Christian communities, but once the artifacts found in the cabin and the book itself were authenticated, many other bible publishers also edited theirs as well. While other publishing houses were being downsized, merging, or going out of business altogether, Steine and Stein was thriving. Anna also decided to keep the company name, even though she shortened Nate’s last name and changed hers to Anna Brave.

Warrior of the Way

Warrior of the Way

The drawers were a dead end. Rhychard felt around edges and behind drawers, inside each little whatnot and behind every picture. Nothing. He sat in one of the leather chairs, his back to the window, as he stared at the office. :How goes it, Warrior?: :Either Harvest Fellowship has the best custodian in the world or our good pastor is a little OCD. Nothing is out of place.: Rhychard scanned the walls, the desk, the bookshelves…the books? Rhychard stood and scanned the books on the shelf. They were alphabetized within subjects. Prayer. Commentaries. Biographies. Between a Biblical concordance and a topical Bible was a large hardbound book on American Baseball. "Now, you're out of place, aren't

The Alpha's Cure

The Alpha's Cure

Shrugged, I answer, "I guess that's why Pastor Chauffee is needed." "So without him, you don't understand what you're reading?" "I understand Psalms and Proverbs, but most of it I don't." "That's why you should be studying," Jude says and stands. Stretching, he yawns, "I need to rest, but you need to study." "I've been up all night too. I'm going to bed." Jude returns to the shelf and then reaches for the Bible. I hand it to him, and he neatly puts it back in place. Then he removes a composition book. I ask, "What's that?"
