AVERY’S POV: As the door closed behind her, I returned to the endless stack of documents. Contracts. Financial breakdowns. Threat assessments. I picked at my food between pages—spoon in one hand, red pen in the other—until a quiet knock broke through the quiet. “Come in,” I said without looking up. The door creaked open, and Baron stepped in. He wasn’t dressed like he’d gone to sleep. In fact, he looked like he hadn’t even thought of it. His sleeves were rolled, his posture straight—but his eyes showed hesitation and thoughts.

Terzo looked like he always carried the world on his shoulder. “The infamous Striker Cade.” He shook Striker’s hand. “It’s an honor.” If I didn’t know he was a mafia’s son, I would have thought he grew up in the U.S. with his noticeable American accent, particularly in Queens. “Terzo.” Then he looked at me, really looked at me. His full lips spread to a smile as if memorizing my face. “London Vanderford. You’re quite beautiful in person than in your I*******m.”

"You want a name, Alistair? You want a reason?" She paused, the tension in the room reaching a fever pitch. At that moment, a new figure stepped into the circle, his presence radiating a quiet, absolute authority that made even Alistair Sterling-Manning pause. Baron Vance, impeccably dressed and looking every bit the formidable leader he was, stood beside Sera. "I believe the lady was speaking to you, Alistair," Baron Vance said, his voice a low, dangerous rumble. Alistair’s face went pale. "Baron… Baron Vance? What… what are you doing here? I thought your syndicate had… dissolved."

A figure stood in the shadows—a man in a sleek, high-collar suit, wearing a silver mask that covered the lower half of his face. "Captain Sterling," the man said. His voice was no longer distorted, but it was cold, clipped, and visibly annoyed. "You are proving to be... difficult." "And you're proving to be sloppy," Jack replied, leaning back in the seat. He forced his body language to be relaxed, arrogant even, despite the pain racking his frame. He needed to look like an Alpha who was in control. "That was a warning shot, Viper. If you wanted us dead, you would have used the main battery."

“Some call me Prince Valerik Kaelin Lysander. But I answer to a better name. I am The Baron.” The entire place lit up with his declaration. Olive gasped at the sudden light and shut her eyes. She opened them a second later and stared at the man a few steps away from her cage. He wore a cloak as black as night, and it covered his entire body. Even his face couldn't be seen. Olive could feel the chill emanating from him. Like he was a glacier. “I've seen you,” she pronounced, her throat suddenly dry and seeking water. “At The Vrek Cult. A day before I was sent after the Big Bad Alpha.”

“What are you doing? are you really the one they sent here, or are you just pretending?” “Oh, I'm sorry. When i first entered the agency, i could almost see you on the big monitor. Some agents there considered you as The Avengers. I've been wanting to see you for a long time.” He replied happily as Baron stood up and looked up into the distance. “By the way, are you really the genius hacker they say?” he examined the young man. “Oh no! I'm not a genius.” he said shyly and still had a scratch on his head.

Then my bag over my shoulder, I adjusted the strap and walked toward the door, heart steady but alive. I was about to press the bell when I heard a soft click. The door cracked open, and there he was. Sterling. Leaning against the frame, dressed in something so deceptively simple it made my pulse skip. Loose, soft fabric, a V-neck shirt revealing just enough, sleeves rolled to his forearms. Heat rushed through me before either of us said a word. “Welcome.” His smile was effortless, like he already knew the effect he had on me. “I should’ve known my code was useless in a tech house,” I muttered, stepping past him. Of course Sterling wouldn’t need guards, I wouldn't expect less from the Chairm

"And you—I’m going to show you how a ‘little girl’ will be the reason for your end." Baron bolted toward the control panel, likely reaching for the Estimator—a device they used to suppress my kind. But I was faster. In a blur, I lunged, my claws slicing through his arm. He let out a strangled cry, stumbling backward. Behind me, Gunnar moved, preparing to strike. But my heightened senses warned me. I stepped aside just as he swung his weapon—only for it to plunge straight into Baron’s chest. A choked gasp escaped Baron’s lips. His eyes widened in shock before the light in them flickered out.

when he turned around, the male vendor he had just talked to earlier was disappeared suddenly. “Jeez! by the way, the important thing is that you're here. I'm Baron.” Introducing himself to him. “OMG! really? are you Baron?— i mean, Tyler?” he said in amazement and Baron seemed to be wondering about his reaction. “Yeah, it's me. Why? how did you find out my real name?” he examined the young man. “I'm a fan of yours! i'm glad to meet you and be with you on this mission, sir.” He happily holds Baron's hand but he avoids him.

"You want his head? Good. I do too. But you'll take it only if you stay smart, disciplined, and patient." Someone's voice cracked. "He killed my mother, my Alpha..." Baron's jaw twitched, the smallest betrayal of sympathy. "Then honor them by living long enough to strike the final blow," he said. "Not rushing into the teeth of his army like pups." He stepped closer, voice firm but quiet. "We don't react. We plan. We don't scream. We strike. And when we strike... he falls." A slow, controlled growl rose in the room - not wild anger, but something colder, sharper, united.
