Since when does he read? I frown, squint and see he’s reading The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Destoevysky.

He ignores his squawk of protest in favor of unpeeling it. “My fruit smoothies have protein powder in them, bruv, and lots of vitamins. Quit your mithering.” Callum devours the banana quickly, then tosses the peel into the nearest bin with pinpoint accuracy. “Fuck, I hate that you’re good at that. It’s too bad you’re all short and shit, or you’d have been great at basketball instead of football.” Isaac heaves out a great big sigh at the thought. “We’d have never been mates, though. You’d have stayed down in Cardiff your whole life.” His eyes narrow accusingly at Callum before he points his fork at him in warning. “So stay short,” he commands.

A week after, Jimmy and Lord Nylian were having breakfast alone. The table was silent, only the sound of the juice glasses and cutlery setting on the marble table could be heard. The Duke was reading Dreamy Day, the number one newspaper in the kingdom. The writers and editors made sure to include all the things that happen daily in Fantasia, such as the next game of Golden Basket; it's the same concept as the regular Basketball game on Earth, except that it's played in the air. The players are mostly fairies or creatures that have wings. They must pass a kind of silver balloon and throw it on the golden basket that floated peacefully in the air.

Chapters turned into a story. And before I could catch my breath, it was no longer a coping mechanism. It was a novel. In my story, the characters aren’t named Stacey and Noah, but anyone who truly looked could recognize us in the margins. The male lead is a basketball player with a fire in his eyes and the weight of his dreams pressing hard on his back. The female lead is older, cautious, guarding her heart like it’s glass but unable to resist the pull of something dangerous, something real.

Finally, I satisfied my rumbling stomach, and fell asleep. It was later in the evening that I awoke, stretching and yawning. It was a nice sleep. Pulling off the sleeping cap, I rose and yawned, stretching, before launching into a warm-up exercise. Then my eyes caught the bookshelf. There were books. Did that mean only books by the author were written? I went to the shelf, and pulled out a book, and checked it. It was about the history of the Palace, Magenir, and I was right about the author—MoonCub.

“That isn’t a book.” I snickered. “You haven’t read it doesn’t mean that it isn’t a book, it was about this certain pillow that was owned by Fiona Woods, whenever she wants to lay her head on it....” “Your way of fabricating this story is stupid.” She commented and we laughed. I stared at her, it was at the tip of my tongue to tell her how beautiful she looked right now but then she doesn’t like hearing that so I kept my thoughts to myself.
