Back in Moscow, buried deep within an undisclosed bunker, Donatello sat across from Viktor Sokolov. Though the cold bled through the concrete walls, the real chill came from something far more dangerous than winter. “You don’t usually come crawling to old ghosts,” Sokolov said, his Russian accent thick but sharp. “I’m not crawling,” Donatello replied coolly, smoke curling from the cigarette between his fingers. “I’m offering what you’ve always had a taste for, war.”

“You turned it. Today, you turned it.” Livia shook her head. “Today, we survived. Tomorrow, we fight again.” Far across town, in a dim villa, Russo shattered a glass against the wall. Wine bled down the plaster like a wound. Sofia bent to pick up the shards, with the lowest of voices . “You’re losing them.” Russo’s breath heaved with blistering fury . “Then we stop playing by rules. Tomorrow, we bring fire.” With eyes glittering, Sofia straightened. “Then make sure it burns her first.”

Even if we set up watch towers and patrols around our territory, we knew that it would only be a matter of time before Rocco tried to attack us. I walked with Sophia, to the centre of the action. The scene was chaotic, with wolves from both sides locked in a fierce battle. I knew that I had to act fast if we were going to end this conflict once and for all. I walked to the centre of the fray and gave a loud howl that echoed through the forest and brought the fight to an end. Everyone stood in their position and watched me in amazement. Rocco's warriors dared not make a move. They knew that they had lost the battle and that their leader was nowhere to be found.

Nikolai touched my shoulder. “He’s close.” And then the lights went out. Flashbangs. Smoke. Gunfire from above, automatic. Matteo pulled me down behind a steel container. “It’s a trap!” he shouted. I already knew. We fought like wolves. Took down two of Viktor’s men before the smoke even cleared. Nikolai threw a flashbomb, taking out the snipers on the rooftop. Matteo got shot in the arm but kept going. As for me? I wasn’t fighting for my life; I was fighting for Luca’s.

SALOME The sound of glass shattering against the wall made me jump, but I kept my eyes glued to the floor. It was a heavy glass whiskey bottle. Luna Mariam had aimed straight for Alpha Williams's head, but luckily for him, he was able to dodge it. The bottle missed him by two inches and scattered all over the hardwood floor, sending sharp, glittering shards everywhere. Still, Alpha Williams Sphere said nothing. He just stood there, wiping a stray drop of liquor from his cheek, his face completely blank.

His grip was firm, but not too tight. “You don’t smell like someone who is lying “ he said. “I’m too tired to make things up “ I replied. For a moment, I thought I saw something like anger on his face. It wasn’t directed at me. Behind us, I heard distant howling The fighters. They had arrived at the border. One of Derek’s fighters turned around. “The leader Blood Moon wolves are coming.” Derek didn’t let go of me. “How many are they?” “Five. More are, behind them.”
