The Celestarium Hall shimmered with floating lanterns shaped like tiny moons, their silver light drifting through the cathedral-high space like breaths from ancient wolves. A live crescent-harp ensemble played softly near the stage, the chords weaving through the glittering crowd. Everywhere I turned, I saw professors, council members, elite-class students—wolves who once didn’t know my name—now whispering it behind glass flutes.

Two more guards stood at attention outside the carriage house, their expressions unreadable as Ethan and Falcone approached. Pushing open the door, Ethan stepped inside, and what greeted him was far from what he expected. The carriage house had been transformed into a rabbit haven, housing around a hundred. Adorable Holland Lops, Harlequins, tiny Hermelins, and fluffy Angoras—all were nestled in their own miniature houses. The space had been carefully designed to include a large fenced pasture that served as a communal area for the rabbits to socialize, their soft fur contrasting sharply with the hardened atmosphere outside.

Rora seemed hesitant to tell me the story. Just at the mention of 'true mate,' I was down for the long story. "Was his mate someone in the pack?" I ask. "No. His true mate was a rogue and raised by hunters. Her name was Lillith," she said with a slight emphasis on the word 'rogue.' Rora didn't sound like she really liked Lillith a lot, and I was slightly curious as to why she used the word 'was' instead of 'is.'

With a scary look on his face, that man was gazing at Beast. Beast ordered a table and put his hand on it. In a nick of time, the colour of the light bulb turned red and Beast turned into a butcher, who was separating every single finger from his hand. The man was screaming in pain. But Beast was standing in a relaxed posture doing his work. Similarly, he also separated the fingers from his other hand. Now it was the turn of his feet.

She sits up straight in her chair, leaning in. I nod. “Well, imagine something like one of those beasts—the long snout, pointy fangs, enormous tongue that doesn’t quite fit, uncontrollable slobbering, mangy fur, and these evil-looking unholy eyes. Imagine being caught somewhere between that wolf-like creature and a human. Mangled, twisted bones set at strange angles with patches of skin and tufts of fur.” I shake my head, my stomach turning just thinking about it. No, I can’t allow her to see me. Bexley isn’t leaning away from me. She doesn’t get up and dart out the door. Instead, she reaches a hand across the table. My paw lies within her reach. I want to pull it away, but I don’t.

Almera asked her eyes sparkling. “I am planning to charge…” Mira scratched her head and pouted “I was going to ask you how much you pay for a rabbit.” “Ha…ha…ha...” Almera laughed as pinched Mira’s cheek and rang the bell for her footman. “Tyle, how much can I buy a rabbit for?” “A plump rabbit would be 3 gold coins without fur and 4 gold coins with fur. A normal one would be 2 gold coins without fur and 3 gold coins with fur.” Tyle paused “Madam that is if you are lucky to get one.”

My eyes managed to peel open, still watery and blurry, and I searched around for Raphael. “Raphael!” I gasped as he stalked towards a monster that I was sure wasn’t with us before. It was black from head to toe, except for its yellow, serpentine eyes, and was almost twice the size of Raphael. It stood like a grizzly that had too much muscle, but instead of being covered with fur, it had scales, spikes, and a long, rattling tail. It looked like an unholy hybrid between a snake and bear on steroids. What was that monstrosity? Where did it come from? And where was the rabbit? If that thing screeched again, we were doomed.

[POV: Colin Smith] Colin sprinted forward weaving around the trees, instinctively avoiding the undergrowth and bumps. After four long years, he was used to running around in the forest. The blasted animal was faster than he had thought. He had been following a thunder-rabbit for a few minutes now. They were a magical beast that looked similar to rabbits, only as big as a dog and their furs stood on ends with shades of purple. It was one of the few D tier beasts that also had a blood sack. Not only were their meat a delicacy, but a blood sack from a D tier beast could also be sold for three silver coins. Which was a lot of money for someone like Colin.

Peggy swallowed hard, a chill running down her spine that had nothing to do with the cold… Heather suddenly stopped hard, nearly sending them all over her head. “Heather, what the hell?!” Archer shouted. Heather was growling. Peggy glanced around before she saw it too. The body and ears belonged to a rabbit. The face had things, black horns, and long tentacles that scraped along the ground. It looked at them all with its dark brown eyes. “It’s not afraid,” Heather hissed in their minds. “I don’t care, go around it!” Archer shouted. The rabbit didn’t move as his voice echoed around the snow.
