The IV stand was knocked over on its side. The thin plastic tube was snapped, and the needle that had been taped gently to her arm was gone, torn out rudely. A small, telling spot of blood stained the sheets right where it had been.

He headed up the stairs as if he lived there. “You’re on the third floor, right? Do you have bed bugs?” Elliott whipped around, halfway up the worn steps. “I am, and no ma'am, I don’t. Do you?” The old woman shook her head, sneering. “Foul things. Of course, I don’t! But I heard a rumour they were getting around.” Chuckling, Elliott assured her, “I promise to tell you if I get them. But I will be very careful not to.”

It shattered. “So much for the element of surprise,” Donald growled at him, throwing him a look. Darius couldn’t hear him. He strode inside and was momentarily thrown back by the disgusting smell. To a human it would have been bad, but to a werewolf, intolerable. There were bed bug infested mattresses on a garbage-covered floor. The original color of the tile was indiscernible through the grime. Propped against the walls sat and slept drugged-out humans, some awake though not really. It wasn’t just meth they were taking. He shrugged, "I'm sure it's fine by now, the blood is probably from last night." Tyler pulled some clothes out of his closet and began to dress while I inspected the linen for further blood. There were a couple of minor smears here and there, but just the one large splotch, which, admittedly, wasn't huge, but had been enough to catch my attention and upset me to some degree. The stain on the bed seemed to be quite hard and dry now though, indicating that it wasn't fresh blood. Hopefully that meant that the wound that had caused it was indeed beginning to heal.

My shoulder was complaining and my cheek was complaining and I noted both of those complaints and looked around the ground floor space for something useful. The particular dark brown-red of blood that had dried into carpet fibres. Not a spill… a trail, the kind made by something being dragged or someone moving while bleeding.

Eric said quietly and brushed my hair a few more times before he got up and leave. I heard the door close before my eyes closed slowly and an unplanned sleep engulfed me entirely. *** I woke after a few hours of sleep and found that I had stained Eric's bed sheets with blood. Eric wasn't in the room when I woke up, so I was confused about what I should do about the stain, I don't want Eric to come to to see it, but I don't know how I'll get rid of it either. I removed the bed covers and started to roll them up when the door to the room opened slowly, my head snapped towards the door quickly, hoping with all my might that it's not Eric.

Something about it felt wrong, like something had decayed there like a flesh, blood... or something worse.

It just got worse than it was before. “Ugh, what’s happening?” I fell to the bed, face flat on my pillow. Seeing how it didn’t work, I rolled over to my back instead, still hugging the pillow against my chest. “Maybe I need to drink some water,” I hesitantly dragged myself off of the bed, setting the pillow back where it used to be. As I stood up, I saw a stain of red on the white sheets from my peripheral view. I had to double check.
