Some hours later:- Trisha closed the bedtime story book. She looked at her son, who was sleeping soundly beside her. It was their daily routine. Rain likes to hear stories before sleeping. Before, he didn't have to do that because back in their apartment, Rain preferred Zee instead of Trisha to read the story for him. "His mom doesn't know how to read the story in a cool way," he explained. Trisha pecked her son's brow, admiring his sleeping form.

I knew what they wanted, and I also knew this would be a challenge. I approached their beds, looking at their little faces with affection. “Okay, kids, it’s time for a bedtime story,” I said, trying to calm them down. “But, there’s one thing. You have to promise to go to bed after the story is over, okay?” Adney immediately raised his hand. “Mom, I promise! We’ll go to bed after the story, right Adolf?” Adolf nodded enthusiastically. “Yes, Mom. We promise!” Ainsley and Allonza also looked at me with sparkling eyes. “We promise too, Mom,” Ainsley said softly, while Allonza just nodded, holding her doll tightly.

"Didn't we just read one yesterday?" "That was yesterday. Now we're all grown up," Anna interjects. "Wow..." I chuckle. "What brought about this sudden change?" "Apparently, Cynthia in our class claims that big kids no longer require bedtime stories," Anna informs me. "I see. Alright then, it's time for bed, my darlings," I say, planting kisses on their foreheads. "Goodnight, Mommy," they reply. As I prepare to exit their room and reach for the light switch, Bella pipes up, "You can leave the light on."

A subdued silence enveloped the fireplace after Shango’s story, interrupted only by the occasional chirping of the night crickets. “That does not count as a bedtime story,’’ Babybaby finally found her voice. “It is child,’’ the thunder god answered. “No it’s not’’ Babybaby insisted quite stubbornly. “bedtime stories are supposed to be a nice tales with happy ending, all bedtime fairytales are, like the ones Amaka used to read to me, this one is a stupid story.’’

She kissed Angel's cheek and said, "I'm going up to my room for now. Enjoy yourselves." As Paris walked away, Angel laid on the bed while still holding her teddy, waiting for me to tell her a bedtime story. I didn't know what to say as I had no idea if the stories I had in mind were ideal for her age. I finally had an idea and quickly checked the Internet for suggestions. Angel reached out both her hands and held one of mine as I began to tell her a story. In no time, she had fallen asleep. However, I continued to speak until I was done with the story.

As she settled in beside him, Theo snuggled close, his small body seeking the warmth and comfort of her presence. "Mama Hazel, will you tell me a bedtime story?" Theo asked, his eyes filled with anticipation. Hazel smiled, her heart swelling with love for the sweet boy who had captured her heart. She began to weave a tale of magical adventures and brave heroes, her voice soft and soothing in the quiet of the night. As the story unfolded, Theo's eyelids grew heavy, his breathing slowing into the steady rhythm of sleep. Hazel watched over him, her hand resting on his back, feeling the gentle rise and fall of his chest with each breath.

I wasn’t used to searching bedtime stories and didn’t really have an idea of what kids would like, so I chose the first story that came up on the internet, not really focusing on what it was about, but in the end, it did turn out to be an interesting story about friendship, as explained by two cute bunnies. "Did you enjoy the story?" I asked when I saw how drowsy Hayley looked. "I did…" Hayley said with sleepy eyes. I smiled, glad that reading her a bedtime story had been successful. I brushed her hair gently, making sure she was comfortable and warm. As her eyes started to droop, I turned off the light and whispered a goodnight prayer. "You'll sleep peacefully and with no fear. No monsters

After I coaxed Leah to sleep, Jayden told me to go to his bedroom to tell him a story. However, I didn't know what happened to Jayden today. I told him a lot of stories, but he still refused to sleep. In the end, I was sleepy. Looking at the clock on the wall, it was almost 11 o'clock. I helplessly looked at Jayden and asked, "Why don't you sleep tonight, Jay?" My saliva had dried up. I really didn't know why the little guy's big round eyes were still so energetic. To my surprise, Jayden got into my arms and hugged my waist, saying, "Mommy, I might be too excited today. You're here in my bedroom today to tell me stories at night. That's great!"

I had buried that truth so deep that sometimes even I almost believed the mask. Hours passed in a blur of loud conversations, laughter, and second helpings. I played with the kids, listened to Uncle Mark’s long stories, and helped clear the table like the good nephew I was supposed to be. By the time the excitement finally died down, exhaustion settled into my bones. I excused myself around midnight, kissed Mum goodnight, and retreated upstairs to my old bedroom.
