It was a strangely domestic image I’d started dreaming up only recently. At some point, my exhaustion overwhelmed me, and I napped while the twins played with Zayne in his room. The day went by quickly, and soon, it was time for bed. After bathing the twins and putting them in pajamas, we lay in bed while I read them a bedtime story. Luca conked off almost immediately, but Matteo held on till the end of the story. “And so they lived happily ever after,” I said, closing the book. Matteo yawned and snuggled into my arm. “Did you find Aunty Nora?” he asked groggily.

Returning my attention to my kids, I lean forward and kiss them on their foreheads, smiling at them. “Have a good night’s rest, babies.” “You haven’t finished reading to us,” Adrien pouts.

"We were the best, right?" "Yeah. My best." I patted his head, sitting next to him. "So, which bedtime story do you want? The Princess and the Pea? Or your favorite, Toy Story?" They stayed silent for a long time, sharing glances before Powell murmured, "Just go to bed, Mum. You don't have to read any stories for us. We will sleep just fine without it." "What?" I dramatically placed my right palm on my chest. "Are you trying to tell me my babies are all grown? You don't need poor Mum anymore?"

Shoving every single thought that was crossing my mind to the farthest place, and swallowing any comment that I could have made about his appearance, I cleared my thoughts. "That's because that's exactly what is going to happen. I'm going to read you a bedtime story,” I said confidently. However, I realized how absurd that sounded as soon as I said it. Can you believe it? The Night Reaper, in his pajamas, having a bedtime story being read to him. The universe would have had to gamble some of the ozone layer just for those words to even be placed in that order.

I picked him off the floor and walked us to the bedroom. "Can't I stay up for five more minutes?" Adrian asked, his beautiful jade eyes shimmering in the glow of his Power Ranger night light. "No, baby, you have school tomorrow," I told him, getting into the bed beside him. "How about a bedtime story?" "Yes!" he squealed excitedly. I chuckled and brought out my phone. After a few pages of the children's book I'd saved on my Kindle, Adrian was fast asleep. Plugging my phone in, I settled beside him, stroking his dark hair away from his chubby face.

Short terrifying stories that leave you insomnolent . . . definitely a must read to while away time and get sleepless with fear, hahaha. I don't own any of this stories. Lucas joined them on the bed, "Looks like our teddy bear is in for some excitement." They continued weaving imaginative tales, laughter filling the room, until Kai finally drifted off to sleep with dreams of daring teddy bear escapades. Eve softly kissed his forehead and whispered, "Goodnight, my little adventurer." Lucas smiled, "Sweet dreams, buddy." As they tiptoed out of the room, Lucas looked at Eve, "Our bedtime stories are getting more elaborate." Eve chuckled, "Blame it on your son. He's got a vivid imagination." And with that, they left the room, leaving behind the peaceful slumber of their little mommy's boy, surrounded by dreams sparked by their whimsical bedtime tales.

I nodded and followed her to our little angels' room. Samantha tucked in Poppy, and I tucked in Violet. Poppy and Violet couldn't sleep without listening to bedtime stories, especially Poppy. I brought out the story we'd be reading tonight, "The Christmas Cookie," since Christmas was just a few weeks away. Samantha and I started reading the story, making it more real by adding sound effects with our mouths. Our little angels giggled, "awwn" ed, and pouted their lips until they fell asleep.

Jai asked. Darrion narrowed his eyes at Jai and smirked. “Oooh~ That will be a good bedtime story, Jai. You’ll have to wait till tonight.” “Can’t you tell me while we wait? I bet it would take some time before dinner is served,” Jai suggested. He knew because the Mint wa still unavailable. “Hmm... Not that... But I know a good tale you might like! Let’s see... How about the tale of the water fairy that fell in love with a lonely human male who’s out of love?”
