“Enough!” My voice cracked like a whip, echoing against the tiles. “You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
His gaze softened — just barely. “Don’t I?”
I turned away, gripping the edge of the sink, forcing my reflection to hold steady. “If you have something to say, say it.”
There was a pause. Then he said quietly, “Someone’s hunting you.”
The words hit harder than any blow. I turned sharply, meeting his eyes.
