Joshua walked to me. “I have to do this. Not for myself, but for my pack that I have served for ten years,” I said, facing the camera. The media had turned silent. “First of all, I have an announcement for the Autumn pack and the world. I, Carys Elffire, am no longer the beta of the Autumn pack. Currently, the beta position is empty, but do not worry… Alpha Joshua will soon select a new beta for the pack, a better one.” I paused and accessed the gathering. The whispering among the guests collided with the confusion in the media.

Carefully, I sat next to him, placed the books on the table close to us and averted my gaze at him. "A Beta is a werewolf who is the second in command to the Alpha. In the Alpha's absence, he takes up the role of the alpha and performs all activities needed" Conri explained softly to my understanding. "Oh" I muttered. "Understand now?" I didn't reply but nodded. This isn't something so hard that my human brain can't be able to process it faster. "So you are Nelson Beta as soon as he is made Alpha?" I asked him. "Yes…" Conri paused, "My duty as beta strikes as soon as he is made Alpha"

With everything that was happening around me, I made a mental note about NEVER, NEVER discussing any of my plans with mom over the phone and would share the same with Mom. I repeat again that ‘JUST THE TITLE OF BETA FEMALE was given to me, not the powers and authority, not until I would get marked and mated with the Beta of the pack. After all this, both the pairs got themselves busy thanking the guest and all the tiny little functions that followed after that. “Are you getting bored?”, The Beta asked. Maybe he would have seen me making faces. “Yeah! I want to leave from here.”, I responded, getting irritated.

MALIA'S POV "I...uhm don't know I was supposed to have let that piece of information out" He raised his hands in surrender, under my unapproved gaze. "You are a Beta. The beta of this pack and when introducing yourself to me, you thought that piece of information was not worth sharing?" I questioned, folding my hands in front of my chest disapprovingly. "I should have" He nodded as if he had just realized his mistake. "But I thought you were going to figure it out or something"

She looked like a hurt puppy, not a Beta. Zacharias could not leave her alone. He took her to the healing chamber to patch her up. "It's her fault you're injured. I'll deal with this in her place." Once Yvonne was patched up, Zacharias tried to come back to the forest, but this time, Yvonne tugged at his shirt before he could leave. "Alpha, you're the pack's most important person. The woods are dangerous at night. I'm your Beta. I can't allow you to tread those grounds alone."

Beta Andrew answers in a gentle tone. “Hey, Beta. Are you looking for a rogue?” I asked. “Yes! Wait, what?” He asked in a concerned tone. “He is in our home. Please, come and get him?” I replied and I heard him growl on the other side. “You didn't receive the message to be careful?” He asked me, and I sighed. “Beta! I don't have a wolf.” I replied. “No, Felicia! I asked the gamma in training to send you a text message because you can't receive warnings through the mind link.” He informed me and I sighed again.

"No!" Tyler's whole body has started shaking in anger and he let out a ferocious growl. "I'm your Beta and I command you to leave before I kill you with bare hands." Shane stiffens and I can tell that his wolf is submitting to the Beta wolf who is a rank higher than that of the Gamma's. But I know Shane won't leave me even if it means he could be exiled. He could risk his life, but I don't want him to. I don't want him to feel like he has to choose. I can't be so selfish.

After the weirdness that had gone down between us I had decided to stay out of Beta Blockhead’s way. Though thankfully he had been shipped out to complete his Beta training. Beta training was a specialised training for upcoming Betas to prepare them for the role they would soon undertake. It should be something their fathers also help prepare them for, but sadly Lachlan did not have that, so he was being sent for additional training to ensure he was well prepared. Although when listening to him anyone would think the arrogant dick had been born ready...

And yet, I need to take this chance he’s giving me. “So tell me about him,” I prompt Keith. “What should I know about Ralph?” Keith hesitates for a moment, absentmindedly tapping his fingers against his cup as he stares at me. Somehow, he’s a torn picture of both ease and tension. “Ralph is a very self-motivated Beta,” he eventually states. “He loves his work and is usually committed to his duties. He wants to become the leader of the Beta in the Lock Heart pack.” I tilt my head as I’m hit with a new curiosity.

The Beta chuckled, “The far future Beta, I’m not ready to give up that title just yet, son,” Colton frowned at him. “Not planning on retiring yet then dad,” he said grinning “Spend your golden years with mum and all.” Even I could tell the underlying message. Colton wanted the Beta title, and by the look on Damien’s face he wanted the Alpha title too. The Alpha laughed, which only infuriated Damien off more, and the Beta inclined his head towards me.
