Belladona Novels & Stories

The room was dim, with a single candle illuminating the best it could, and I saw something poking out from the layers of blue and white. I strode up to it cautiously and touched it, only for it to crinkle against my fingers and fall to the floor. It all came back to me now and I picked it up, my hands shaking, my nose filled with the smell of his perfume that seemed to come from the paper. “I will read it and throw it out,” I said under my breath, slowly unfolding the crisp quarters to see a contract. “Proposal for a Dominant and Submissive Relationship?” The candle flickered and I moved closer to the golden glow to see the letters better. Dominant? Submissive? Hard limits? Soft Limits?

She clapped her hands as if she was pleased, "His grandfather really has eyes." My cheeks heated when I understood what she meant. "I'm Yekatherina, but you can call me Yeka. It's nice to finally have another female apart from Anya," she said and held out her hand. "Rosaline, but you can call me Rose," I shook it. "That's great. I'm Alexei's close friend and his assassin," she said with pride. She was beautiful with her straight blonde hair and bottle green eyes. She was slim and tall, taller than me.

She tilts her head towards the door. “Well I get why Scarface doesn’t like you now. Is there anything edible in the bowl?” I tilt my head towards hers. She is clearly still alive, so she must be getting nutrients somehow. “The wolfsbane is dark blue and looks black when they mix it in with the food, almost like large pepper flakes. Belladonna is green or gray and resembles sage. So If you brush off the seasoning, it tends to affect you less, but always look doped up when they come in so they don’t give us more, got it?” She is whispering rapidly.

All my extra jewelry seemed foolish now as my limbs grew heavy, the burning sensation spreading all over. I gasped with a hand on my stomach and dry heaved as nausea and tremors racked through me. Through my periphery, I could see Princess Morgana standing up to speak to the king. “Your majesty. Please let the new royal wife go first in shooting her arrow. The faster she can make bullseye, the faster she gets the antidote. She seems to have taken the deadliest poison of them all.” Belladonna. The wine glass I drank had Belladonna.

Still nothing. I study her and add. “If you love nice-smelling fresh flowers, I want to get you at least two hundred stems of Gardenia. I know they smell so good.” When she speaks, her voice is flat and monotonous. “I’ll prefer a Belladonna.” I frown. “Belladonna is a poisonous flower, Bethany.” She flashes me a mean glare that has me quickly apologizing. “Sorry, but it’s a poisonous plant that can cause madness.”

“They broke it down into four components. The dominant one is crushed Nightshade. It’s toxic in high doses, but in small amounts, it causes confusion, fatigue, memory lapses. It also suppresses the wolf.” Suppresses Leo. I felt him snarl in outrage. She’s been silencing me. Weakening me! I gritted my teeth and kept reading. “Belladonna extract… that’s the same plant family,” Fred explained. “It causes hallucinations. Makes it hard to tell what’s real and what’s not. They think she used it to cloud your instincts and fog your judgment.” I slammed the table with my palm. “That’s why I didn’t feel anything. That’s why I couldn’t...”

Her eyes caught mine. “Oh, we’ve got a new student. You must be Anastasia Lancroft?” I stood up and nodded. “Yes, ma’am.” “Alright, I hope you can catch up with the lessons quickly, Anastasia. I’m Master Tatiana.” Without another word, Master Tatiana turned to the board and began writing down the names of some plants—or maybe flowers. I blinked. Were we… studying botany? “Last week, I explained a few plants. Today, we’ll move on to flowers. Belladonna, also known as Deadly Nightshade, contains atropine, a toxic compound.”

When he got to Vespera, she was asked which cartoon character she really loved and she replied: "The Goddess from the Sinbad cartoon." Ezekiel’s eyes twitched. His fists tightened and his hand holding the phone shook. The voices from the device only sank into the background of his mind as he stared at the smiley Vespera with less subconscious. Lorna's favourite character was also the Goddess Eris from Sinbad, Legend of the Seven Seas.

“Now that we've seen the evidence. I'm sure the council would like to know what this liquid is.” Tony said. They all nodded in unison. “It's belladonna mixed with wolfsbane. A powerful combo that could be used over time to poison someone slowly, and the best part about this evil mixture is that the belladonna masks the wolfsbane effect so it cannot be traced.” The entire room erupted into murmurs. “I hope the council understands how this woman is guilty of killing our beloved Alpha.”

Add to that the effects of the human drugs added in and these kids don’t stand a chance. “Miss Elara’s poor teen was probably carrying Datura or Mandrake powder. Which would have caused hallucinations and disorientation and a severe reaction when it came into contact with his skin in this concentration and stopped his heart. Or if it was a liquid, Wolfsbane and Belladona can be used as sedatives.” The doc rubs his hands together as he is running through his findings. “These concentrations are what worries me. The effect from just a small amount on the skin is proving fatal.”
