I thought the pain from rejection would have been a lot worse, but it wasn't as bad as everyone said it would be. The Caputo kingdom. The kingdom in which I will be living, The Alpha King, has set rules that have to be followed the punishment if those rules are disobeyed? Death. No, exceptions. The rumors spread about how The Alpha King hates women. So he forces all the unmated she-wolves into slavery; if you don't find your mate by seventeen, the Alpha king decides your fate. Rumors also spread about how ruthless, cruel, and unable to love. I hope he has mercy on me.

She says sternly. I swallow hard, clamming my hands as I try to process the news. Alpha King Sven is the Alpha king of the kingdom of Māui, a powerful hybrid — a werewolf and Lycan mix. His name is enough to instill fear even to his own people. He’s also known for being ruthless, especially to anyone that isn’t a werewolf or a Lycan. He’s notorious for his hatred towards Fae and any magical beings like elves, and he was the one who led the war that led to the fall of Eris wall at the age of thirteen.

He growled, his aggressive tone sending shivers down my spine. "Alph-" I start, until he cuts me off. "I'll collect her myself, then," he says, disconnecting the mind-l**k with me. Updates from fellow soldiers began popping up through the mind-l**k that the future King was on the move. Once I was updated that the Alpha had left the Kingdom, my nerves began to set in. Gasps continued to echo all around the field, followed by murmurings he knew weren’t of praise, but of disdain. Faiz, although intrigued by Iver, hated a part of him and felt impressed. He began to saunter wordlessly, to where Iver stood, amongst the elders, the chosen one for the position. “I wonder what a clan member is doing here?”. Faiz said, loud enough for Iver to hear him. Iver froze. An indication the Alpha king was present. A few feet from where he stood, quite looking like the alpha king he was, in his dark leather royal cloak.

“Save your breath for work.” Marla salutes him with her peeler and earns a pointed look for it. When his back turns, she leans toward me. “I heard other things too,” she whispers. “The King’s wolf is..” “Work,” Marek says again, without turning this time. Somehow he still knows where she is. She just grins and peels faster.

I cut in, deep and unrelenting, “makes you think we want a deal from you?” “Because we both want the same thing. And…And…” he stuttered, finding his words before letting them go and continuing, “We’re both in the running for the position of the Alpha King. If I make it and become the king, you return my mate to me. And if you and your pack make it,” he glanced at my brothers with disgust, “you can keep her.” Rowan scoffed behind me, cutting in and beating me to the words, “We already have her. Your deal does not benefit us.”

She is small, weak, and by the looks of her, she is tainted with the blood of his enemies! The bond screams ‘mine’ while every fiber of his being roars in denial and fury. He is the Alpha King. He is a weapon. He does not have mates. He does not have weakness. The silence in the room was no longer empty. It was charged, screaming with unspoken shock.
