So when Mom told me that I should be more presentable, it was understandable. I both hated and loved my Mom's job and friendship with Uncle Ben. Hated it because he and the job kept her so busy that she barely had time for me, and she was so occupied with her job that she sometimes forgot that she was a mother too. The only reason I loved it was that the 'princess' of the Van Acker family, Katerina Van Acker is my best friend since diaper days. I literally consider her my sister and her elder brothers, Konstantin and William, my brothers.

ELARA’S POV For some reason, my mother decided today was the perfect day for her and her two best friends to have a girls’ night. I didn’t want to go to the launch party with Nate, but now it seems like my only escape. Because I know my mom’s friends. Those two old ladies she calls her besties?
