I took in a deep breath and closed my eyes, but before I could let go I heard a sound and I turned to see what it was. The stranger who had given me the best night of my life hurried out to the balcony, his eyes widened when he saw what I was about to do. I didn't plan for anyone to see me before I died. "What are you doing?" He asked with disbelief laced in his voice. "I want to end my suffering." I shrugged, he can't stop me from what am about to do. "Why don't you come and let's talk first." He was calm but I could see a bit of fear in his eyes.

The heat in my body was getting worse, like I needed to unleash every frustration that had welled in my system. As the elevator took us up, I tried to keep my distance. Maybe it would bring me back to my senses before I finally take this big leap of faith. I got to his room, trying my best to control myself. “So,” he purred while still holding my hand. “Are we going to tell each other our real names?” ”No names.” I said. He nodded. “It’s just one night.” I stared at him, No regrets I’m making this up as I go along, I mean is there anything wrong having one night with a total stranger?

Maybe this kind of life is for me. I'm starting to think that any life with Brian is the life for me. I've never been like this before. I wasn't even like this with Rafael. But this is different. A sardonic grin spread across his face and as he walked away, I had to restrain myself from rushing towards him and biting off his ear. I fell to the ground after he had left, my face buried in my palm. I would never have had any cause to be here had I not come across the path of a devil; my perfect life was crumbling in front of me. I could still remember the events that led to this; they were ever new in my mind. They featured in my dream and haunted me. Who would have ever thought the perfect Daniel whose life was the envy of others would reduce to this? Why did I ever meet Tony? I let my tears flow as the events that led to this came crawling back into my memory once again.

“I see… me and Ian.” It feels so real. Like I’m there. “We’re… outside somewhere. The sun’s out. It’s warm, and I’m laughing.” I can feel the breeze kiss my skin. “Tell me more,” Dr. Elara says. “We’re holding hands,” I continue. “I think we’re walking through a market or festival of some sort. I see little stalls, people laughing. Ian is smiling at me like I’m the only person in the universe. We look… happy.”

I sat in silence. Suddenly, my phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number from my hometown area code. I hesitated for a moment before pressing answer. A heavy silence hung on the other end of the line for a few seconds before Mom's voice finally came through. "Eileen…" I didn't say a word. She broke down, sobbing uncontrollably. "Eileen, I was wrong. Cody's been arrested, Lexie ran off, and the neighbors won't stop whispering about me. I really realize my mistakes now. Eileen, please, come home and see me. You're all I have left…"
