“Too late. Have fun.” By the time evening arrives, the city has softened into that warm golden glow that appears just before sunset. I’m standing outside the restaurant when Katy walks toward me from the corner. And for a second. Just a very long second, I completely forget what I was about to say. She’s wearing a simple black dress that moves slightly in the evening breeze, her hair loose around her shoulders. Nothing overly formal, nothing dramatic. Still. She looks different. So beautiful. “Did I say you looked beautiful tonight?” I smiled. “I don’t think so.” “You did. So fucking beautiful. I kind of had a different idea on how this day would end but it got ruined.” I wiped my cheeks trying to not make it red. “Thank you and thank you for sharing. It means a lot.” I felt him nod behind me. “Goodnight Nathan.”

Her outfit were usually black or red but tonight, she wore a dress with white as its main color while having some golden and red embroideries at some parts. If this was not the night where I would die, I would gladly praise her beauty. Avery fell silent, before answering me as she smiled coldly.

“I can’t believe how beautiful I look.” Angela beamed down at me. “You’re beautiful regardless,” she said, “but the makeup really makes a difference, doesn’t it?” I nodded, and Layla gave me a playful wink. “Nathan won’t know what hit him when he sees you.” I giggled at her words. I had felt like a bit of a wreck lately between the twins, the pregnancy, the festival preparations and everything else, but I felt truly beautiful now. If only I could have felt like that forever; but the fact that I couldn’t just made tonight all the more special.
