I reached for my purse on the right side of my bed and opened it. My feet touched the carpet. They were also cold. I needed something warm. Without another moment to waste, I picked up the air conditioning remote and lowered the temperature. That felt way better. I returned my attention to the purse and pulled out the burner phone. I turned it on, and waited for any message to come in. Then it came. From a familiar number. Only one body was found. The second grave is empty. That didn't sit well. How could only one body be found? I had seen them die. There should have been two filled graves.

I gripped tight, but he slipped right through and fell. I watched helplessly as Brandon vanished from my sight, tumbling into the abyss. Not a sound from him. Brandon's death was not on me, but it happened right before my eyes. My brain short-circuited for a second before it hit me to call the cops. Maybe Brandon could still be saved? Revenge had crossed my mind, but I never wanted blood on my hands. I dialed 911, and the cops were on the move in no time. The rescue team found Brandon at the cliff's base, his head cracked open on a rock—dead on impact.

Jack got on the ground to check on the man and found a little amount of the toxic fluid in his body. At this point, he knew they probably walked into a trap. He slowly turned around to face everyone. " He is dead ". " Huh? ", Ashley found him unbelievable and got on his knees to check on the man. Unlike what Jack said, the man was breathing properly and his pulse was perfectly fine. There was no way this man was dead. " He is breathing, he is not dead ", Ashley announced. " He is dead ", Zack didn't back off from his original statement. " He is just like all those refugee troupes who have been targeted by the unknown enemy. He might look alive, but in reality, he is not ", He broke the news
