"Lily, it's a nice thought but-" Lily had reached the final page of the book and her face dropped. "No, there has to be something!" "Maybe it is just a fairytale-" "Wait." Lily had let the last page of the book fall and she frowned, staring at the back leather cover. "I need a knife," she murmured to herself and searched her pockets, pulling out a small blade. She then gently sliced along the edge of the back cover, creating an opening. "Fuck me," she whispered and pulled out what looked like an old piece of parchment.

The cracking sound of my leg as she bends it at an unnatural angle has me slowing down and she takes advantage of that by slamming by head repeatedly against the floor till I go limp. Her breathing ragged, she steps away, a frightening amount of excitement in her voice, “If you’re this strong now, I want to have another duel with you in a couple of years.” I want to say something but my head isn’t working. I see her move towards the vault door, murmuring something and then she chuckles, “Guess I didn’t need your blood. Any blood would have done.” It takes me a moment to realize what she means when she pulls open the door. A groaning sound echoes in the tunnel and the ground vibrates.

I scratch another tally on the ground using a rock as the tool. I count the number of an hour to indicate the time being stuck here. Figures Eddie or Solomon still needs to figure out the secret door entry of this place. Besides tally markings, I count the small fishes in the water, pluck flowers to make a flower crown, and reread the story of Princess Amihan. After reading, there is a rough charcoal sketch of the princess on the book's last page. I couldn't believe she looked like me. The eyes, the shape of my face, the chubby cheeks, it's like looking at my long-lost twin sister from old age.

The moon hung in the sky like a brilliant, oversized flashlight. Lila leaned her forehead against the window pane. It felt cool and soothing. Peering into the illuminated night, she looked out onto the mountain in hopes of spotting Marcus and his pack approaching the castle. She’d had no word from Ben about the rescue Jasper and the werewolves were planning for her, but this would be the prime time for them to do it. She closed her eyes and tried to visualize Jasper in his wolf form as he raced through the woods with the pack, but the pain in her back wouldn’t allow her mind to focus.
