I took a step back, putting distance between us. Edward looked dejected. Then, he made a request. "Can you at least let me hug you? I don't even know if she's still alive." Hearing this, I took a deep breath and shook my head. "I'm sorry, Mr. Miles. We're not that close. Aside from our first meeting, we're basically strangers. I don't want my husband to misunderstand us." His eyes dimmed instantly. Faced with my coldness, he could only stand there, looking helpless.

I didn't dare look behind me. But it followed. I could feel it. The thing from beyond. When we reached the water's edge, I collapsed to my knees. The river should've offered safety, sanctuary. But it boiled, bubbles rising, steam rising higher. Malen cried out and fell, convulsing. His body twisted unnaturally, veins glowing a violent purple. I screamed and reached for him. I wanted to save him at all costs. He didn't deserve so much pain. It hurt me to see him like this.

Jaiden walked back to the table taking his pen and again engrossed himself in the work. LUNA The bus was moving steadily on the road heading to the forest. Hey readers I know I'm not giving proper updates to this book. I am extremely sorry about it. I have been quite busy because of my studies, and I have to wrap up my other story, "Love Me Again." The story has few chapters left, and then I'll continue another book in it with the story of next generation. So, I am focusing more on it as it's about to end. Soon, I'll come up with new chapters for Beyond The Time.

But just as they were about to launch themselves at each other, Samantha intervened once more. "Wait!" she cried out. "There's one more condition to this challenge." Both Lucas and Alexander turned to look at her, their expressions questioning. "The challenge will take place in three parts," she continued. "A test of strength, a test of speed, and a test of wits. Whoever wins two out of three will be declared the winner." Lucas and Alexander exchanged a glance and nodded in agreement, then both Lucas and Alexander turned to face her, their chests heaving with exertion.

Traveling from one place to another is a bit hard for the pregnant Ella who just wanted to stay home and sleep but she had to meet Cassandra even for once before she would go to the birthday of her teenage son which she promised to do so before her pregnancy was discovered.
