Angrier than I had ever been before. Soon I found myself walking away from the house toward the main road. When I reached the edge of our property, I was going to keep going. I was going to keep going until I got to the end of that road. Maybe even until I got to the end of town. By then, maybe I could find the courage to just leave everything behind. It was not like anything of importance was keeping me here. I had no loving parents. No warm, inviting home to come home to every night. I had nothing and no one.

“I realized I can't do this. Don't bother looking for me. I'm fine.” —Penelope. If she thought her life couldn't get any worse than her misfortune weeks back, she was in for a treat.

I said, my voice low but firm , “whatever I choose to do with my time, who I choose to spend it with, is my decision. You don’t get to have a say in that.” His jaw clenched, but I didn’t let him speak. “I am still your lecturer,” I went on, sharper now. “And you need to respect my boundaries. Okay, you need to calm down a bit. But I didn't listen to myself now. “This…whatever this is has gone way past appropriate, and it’s starting to feel like you’re crossing a line.” Noah blinked, stunned. “Stacey, I didn’t mean to make you feel… I was just…”

“It’s nothing, darling. I just owe him a little money.” And now the same man had resurfaced—standing beside Jason. Sophia’s chest tightened. “Julian,” she whispered. “What if there's more to this than we think” Julian looked at her sharply, eyes narrowing slightly. “Then,” he said quietly, “we’re dealing with something much deeper than rivalry.” The silence that followed was heavy and lingering, stretching between them like a shadow neither wanted to acknowledge. Outside, the wind howled faintly against the walls. Somewhere in the distance, a car door slammed.

They all hear my thoughts? "Yes" they say in unison. “Just Roman, Sebastian and I though," Catherine adds. “We are lycans. We can hear anyone's thoughts from a close range though." She shrugs. Yes, lycans are the highest ranking werewolves with super abilities. Damn! “Let's play a game!" Roman suggests beside his mate, causing Catherine's eyes to sparkle with excitement. "Yes, let's play a game of tag!" she exclaims, grinning like a child.

"Thank you sir for the help, bye!" After bowing to the stranger and thanking him no end, he went back to the beach and played again with his cousin. He even told his mother about his encounter with the stranger whom he taught as a kind and helpful person. Cassandra just smile and looked tenderly at her son, the reason why she keeps on living, the only person in the world that makes her happy. Her cousin noticed this that prompted her to ask, "Cousin, are you alright? What have you been thinking lately, is there something bothering you?"

And somewhere beyond reality— Something smiled.

My reflection looks normal. Human. Finite. But I know something beyond observation has just touched the edge of what I am. And it will not stop here. It is not hunting us. It is studying us. And next time It will reach further.
