"Vines! Thorns! Iron-Wood!" The jungle responded. Massive roots burst from the ground. They wrapped around the Beast’s legs. They wrapped around its neck. They pulled. The Beast growled, trying to tear free. But the sheer volume of the D.C. jungle was overwhelming. Thousands of tons of vegetation piled onto the creature. It released my arms. I stumbled back, bleeding golden blood. "Bury it!" I yelled. Maya slammed her hands together. The earth opened. The roots dragged the Beast down. Not into the Deep just into the mud.

It was Rajeev's book; he usually carried a little book with him, in which he wrote about the medicinal plants he collected from the nearby forest. When they initially came across wolves in the bush, Rajeev failed to see that book. In fact, Jignesh discovered the book in the same bush where he discovered the corpse of the wolf.
