“Isn’t everyone?” he chuckled. Then, with a more serious tone, he said, “Oh, that’s right. I forgot that you never knew you had magic and your brother-in-law has been making regular visits to your bed to take it from you so now, you have an empty shine.”
“You’re with the society?” I asked, incredulously.
“Not the one that your pet detective is a member of,” he smugly said. “They’re outdated stick in the muds who don’t deserve to be able to use magic. In fact, they use it so seldom that they all basically suck at it.”
