The buzzing recedes, and the lovely whispering along with it. “This is getting us nowhere. Perhaps it’s better if we showed you,” Bill says. “Come along.” Waving a massive hand, he steps over the dead cops’ bodies and shuffles down the corridor. Past another few turns, we arrive at an elevator. By this point, Bill’s wound pours blood, sopping his leg shiny. After hitting the up button, Bill glances down, shrugs, and slips two fingers into the giant hole in his flesh. He must have pushed something into proper place because the blood slows. He seems unconcerned about the amount of fluids he’s lost, which makes us wonder if his body is even alive, or if Us-in-Bill lives in a zombie house.

He shakes his head again. "Now I allow my voice to change, to deepen, to resonate with the fullness of my incredibly long life. The effect on him is pronounced; he shakes visibly, as if he is suddenly aware that he is sitting next to a monster. But I am not just any monster. I am a vampire, and in many ways, for his sake, that may be the worst monster of all.

Brian quirked his eyebrows, he had no time to be treated as though he couldn’t kill each and everyone of these motherfuckers. "Please." Brian corrected with a smirk sat on his face. Being half Vampire had characterised him with traits of explosive anger and traits of being an asshole, for lack of better words. "What?" He asked, peering at Brian with bewilderment. A mutt was demanding a plea from him? Vladimir, the oldest Vampire to ever walk the shadows of the night. The nerve he had, how blasphemous.

“I am sure everybody knows you play the piano.” William groaned and I giggled. “It’s true. It all fits your profile: Hot William, 34 years old, 6’2, rich, workout, knows how to play the piano, and runs a multi-billion dollar company. Does not sleep at night. Is a vampire, and drinks blood to survive. It all makes sense.” When I finished talking WIlliam was giving me that funny grin again. “What?” “You called me hot.” “Everyone calls you hot,” I said to defend myself.

They could only drink blood. She shuffled away from me and stuck her nose in the opposite direction. “Yeah. But God, Callie, you smell so good, and I – I don’t want to hurt you.” Smoothly, I cocked the gun. “Don’t worry,” I said. “You won’t.” She shrivelled away from me, and then seemed to steel herself. “How do you know about all this, anyway?” She gestured to herself helplessly. “Are you a vampire, too?”

Thru seemed to have a leader this time, a huge hooded man with an aura twice as intimidating. "Sebastian Deusdedit," he called out in a eerie tone. "Respect," she spat, "emperor Sebastian, your honor." The hooded blood sucker laughed, an unpleasant sound. "I'm also a king, you know, a lord. The lord of the vampires, what you term as blood suckers." "I don't care what you call yourself but I warn you to stay away from me and my wife." The vampire lord chuckled, throwing back his hood to reveal a deathly pale face with long sharp fangs.

Louder, she continued, “You are to serve him tonight for dinner.” Vampires didn’t eat like other creatures. They needed blood to survive, preferably straight from the source. The tributes were mainly selected to be those blood wells. As werewolves could generally heal quickly, I imagined vampires could feast on them many times before the tributes finally succumbed. Knowing that, and knowing that I was the tribute selected to be Vampire Duke Damien’s blood pet, I guessed serving him for dinner meant that I would personally be the food, with my blood on the menu.

Damian I saw Myra let out an inaudible gasp. She didn't expect me to be a by-product of a human and a vampire. "But aren't vampires...turned?" I leaned one side against the windowsill, looking out at the starless night. I let out a shirt, humourless chuckle. "No. That's a misconception. A long time ago, vampires stopped turning humans into hybrids. That's what we call them. When a vampire drinks a human's blood then they usually drain the human out and kill them in the process."

He made a cut into Miller’s wrist. “That should do it.” Miller looked away in disgust. “I hate blood.” He placed his wrist over Darina’s mouth letting the liquid flow in between her lips. “Wait. She won’t turn into a vampire now, will she?” Sal asked, concerned.
