I leave the bag between the two of us and we eat the cheese delights that make my mouth water. I think we spend an hour in silence eating and drinking until I decide to play music from his phone when I manage to get it out of his pocket. He uncovered the plate and stared at it for a second as if analysing everything the plate held. He sat in front of me, plate in one hand, fork in the other. Rowan and Noah stayed close watching as Ellis lifted a forkful of food and held it near my mouth. “Open,” he said quietly. With a little hesitation, I obeyed. The first bite felt strange and foreign. My stomach protested weakly, but Ellis didn’t stop. He fed me slowly and patiently, without complaining about how slow I was eating.
