As if the chair had bitten her, she shot to her feet and pointed at me.
“Rachel! You… You’re not dead…”
I nodded. “I did die once, but I came back from hell. After all, there are still debts to settle.” I stared at her pale face and smiled brightly, asking, “Didn’t Victor tell you?”
I paused before continuing, “In the Medici family, debts are always collected. They’re never left unpaid.”
Her body swayed before she collapsed back into the chair, completely drained.
“First thing,” I said, my gaze cutting into her like a blade. “Get up. That’s not your seat.”
