Black Books To Read Novels & Stories

While I am waiting, I pick up the book by his bedside and read the title, ‘Six of Crows’, I turn it around to read the blurb, it was about six thieves trying to pull off an impossible heist to save their country. The book seemed like a very interesting read, maybe after Blake was done with the book, I could read after him. In the meantime, I bring out my phone and I open the app I have for books. I go the book I am currently reading, it is murder mystery/ thriller, titled ‘As good as dead’ and it is very interesting and intriguing.

My wolf replied. I shook off the "what-ifs" that held me back and turned back to the towering oak shelves. My fingers traced the spines of leather-bound books, all of them layered in dust that made my nose itch. "Focus," I muttered to myself. "One monster at a time." I immediately admonished myself. I continued to look until I found the books my dad had recommended. I pulled the four heavy volumes from the shelves. The History of Shadow Entities, The Blood Rites of the Unseen, The Search for Shadows and one volume of Pack Lore and Ancient Threats. I carried them to a secluded corner of the library. The dust felt suffocating, but I wouldn't let anything stop me.

Peaceful. Vespera Hale walked along the mahogany shelves, trailing her fingers over the spines of the books. Philosophy. Strategy. History. She stopped. On a shelf at eye level, nestled between The Art of War and a first edition of The Count of Monte Cristo, was a book she didn't recognize. It had no dust jacket. The binding was matte black, textured like volcanic rock. The lettering on the spine was silver, sharp and angular. SAVAGE REBORN.

I had to believe they were doing it for a good reason. I walk further into the room and see a row of red leather books all along the back wall on shelves. I rip a book from the shelf, flipping through the pages; every spell in here is black magic. I grab another book and another. They are all full of black magic, words of evil, each book darker and darker. I flip to a page that says “removing souls, the patient must endure months of torture to separate the soul from the body.” I stare at the page in disbelief. Is this what they are doing down here?

Asher DravenHart Her brows shot up. "Cursed books?" "No... what is your obsession with cursed books and creepy things?" I asked, laughing, "Those books just have sensitive information. Old treaties and bloodline records. That sort of thing. Things that could get you hurt if the wrong person sees you reading them." Savannah's mouth pressed into a determined line. "Noted." I had a feeling that she was going to read every single one, and most of them not brought to me first.

I turned to her who was staring at the painting too. Bellva nodded her head. "You're absolutely right. But I also like novels." She looked at me with a smile. "I like Holly Black's books. Especially, The Cruel Prince. What novels do you like?" "I like too many, but the only thing I'm addicted to is the novels by Jane Austeen and Sarah J. Maas." And I mentioned the title to her. "I'll try to read it. Sounds good." "I can lend it to you." "Thank you, Amanda." She smiled, I replied it.

By the time Momma passed I was married with a little one on the way, so my chance for college had passed, too. But I never stopped reading. Got me a nice little library out back, filled with all sorts of books crammed on bookshelves made by my own two hands. Books like Tom Sawyer, Edgar Allen Poe stories, Huck Finn and The King in Yellow, (that last one I don’t read much cause it always gives me strange dreams), some old mysteries, a clutch of Lovecraft’s books (they hurt my head, too, so I don’t read them much neither), my Hardy Boys books from growing up, and a whole bunch of newer ones by Stephen King and Dean Koontz.
