Rhapsody for a Wolf
“She’s going to help me destroy you.”
“With whose army?” Whitfield sneers, and as the figures start to step into the room through the walls, I start laughing again. I’m still laughing as I call to Frost. With his strength rising to add to mine, I stand, snap the chain that’s fastened to us, and behead the guard on my right with the sword that comes to my hand. Nobody else is laughing. The guards don’t even have time to scream as the ghostly warriors hack them down. I know those ancient fighters, I recognise them from the tomb at Blackmarsh, and I nod to them with respect and thanks, but I can’t spare more time for them than that.
