Chapter One: A New Beginning Aqua’s heart raced as she walked through the imposing iron gates of Crestwood High. Another town, another school, another chance to start over—if only it were that simple. At 5'10", her presence commanded attention, but she preferred to stay unnoticed. Her dark skin glowed under the morning sun, and her eyes, a striking shade of amber, held secrets untold. She pulled her hood tighter, hoping to shield herself from the prying eyes she could already feel on her.

Marie's pov: After pushing away the painful memories,it's then I realized I was done with my hot chocolate and only then did I notice the salty tears rolling down my cheeks making my eyes puffy.The rain had stopped pouring as a clear sky was visible showing the beautiful stars. Reminiscing my mother's last words I knew it was time for me to fullfil my promise.I mean,A promise is a debt and the only time you can't fullfil it's only when out of necessity. Now was the right time.

The flare crackled and hissed in the blowing snow as Lloyd waved it over his head. “I’m here, Sheriff Tanner just got here. Lloyd, are they okay?” Milli sounded like she was whispering. Lloyd heard Tim’s shrill whistle and shouted to his cousin, “Oy, over here.” Into the radio, Lloyd announced, “Beau’s 11-41 and Ben is 11-44. Tell Tanner, we’re coming back hot.” “Okay,” Milli answered. Lloyd’s grandfather and cousin rode into the area while he tossed the flare down in the snow and headed back to where Beau and Ben had sheltered.

The moment their eyes met, he exclaimed in surprise, "Winona?" Winona had not yet recovered from the shock of being called 'Mommy' by a strange child when she heard the little girl's father accurately call out her name. She studied the man's face carefully, searching her memory. Yet, she still came up empty. "I'm sorry, but who are you?" Seeing her bewildered expression, a trace of disappointment flashed through the man's eyes. He said, "I'm Julian Grove. I was two years ahead of you in school. We were in the same club. Do you remember?"

I replied. But my pulse hadn’t settled. Not even close. Cameron clapped his hands once, he wasn’t having it. “Well, that just got interesting.” His eyes flicked mischievously. Oh no. I knew that look. “Let’s turn it up,” he said. And just like that... Everything spiraled. His gaze shifted. Landing on the girl from the bar. Chloe. “Chloe,” he called out. “Truth or dare?” She smiled instantly.

"What if I changed my mind? What if I'm not ready?" Dad looks at me, worried. "What's going on? You've been planning this for months. You love Marcus." We pull up to the grove. I can see the altar with white flowers and silver ribbons. Pack members from both territories fill the benches. Marcus stands at the front in his ceremonial robes, looking like the future Alpha he is. When he sees our car, he smiles. The same smile he had this morning while he was screwing my stepmother. "It's normal to be nervous," Dad says. "But once you see Marcus up there, everything will feel right."

The unpleasant smells on the Rogues were getting closer, but there was nothing I could do. Those unfamiliar, hideous faces were magnified abruptly in my pupils. Suddenly, a muffled sound rang out– Wolf claws pierced my heart. The Rogues’ breaths, mixed with a strong smell of blood, engulfed me. I felt my blood freeze as my eyes snapped open. My heartbeat was beating in my ears, and the stench of blood was lingering inside my throat as if I was still running wild in the forest. The moon was shielded by the dark clouds as tree leaves rustled in the cold wind.
