“How could I forget? It’s nice to see you again, Damon.” Damon finally turned from the window, his gaze cool and measured. “Yeah, you too,” he said simply. He nodded toward the backpack. “Um… thanks for these.” Kylian leaned forward slightly, resting one arm on the back of Felix’s seat. “They’re clean,” he said matter-of-factly. “Two Glocks, one compact, and the rest are pieces you won’t have trouble moving. Untraceable, like you wanted.” Damon gave a small nod, his face unreadable. “Good.”

Dark mountains in the distance provided a backdrop to the suburban sprawl. Touchdown was uneventful, and once the seatbelt sign was turned off, Cole reached beneath the seat in front of him to retrieve a small backpack. Opening the overhead compartment, he removed his own brown leather duffel and a black rolling bag for the older woman who'd been seated beside him.

I still have no idea how they’re going to pull that off, but all the guards trust Dylan, and so do I. But of course, there’s no telling if they’re going to make it or not, so I decided to arm myself pretty heavily for the little trip in case I have to go into the forest on my own. It was somewhat comforting to know that despite his usual jolly demeanor, his intimidating looks weren't just for show. He tossed one of the backpacks at Kade, and within seconds, was urging us to leave.

He arrived on Monday with one bag.
