She stared at me in surprise but before I could question her, I felt a strong wind around us, coming from above. My eyes peeled away from the woman to stare at an incredibly large, strong, and powerful dragon writhing in pain in the sky. Its scales were black with hints of red and it beat its wings like it was fighting an invisible enemy. I watched in horror as he screeched, his body squirming and his voice echoing in the air. The Commander's voice was calm and triumphant. A sinister shadow materialized behind him, and the two soldiers flanking Caleb were sent hurtling into the crowd of onlookers. She closed the gap between them until she could feel the dry warmth radiating from him. “You said I matter,” she whispered, hand trembling as she reached for him. “Tell me why.” For a long moment, he watched her as if weighing her soul in golden eyes. Then, with slow inevitability, the dragon’s silhouette peeled back like layers of shadow from flame. Not fully human, not fully beast, but enough that she saw the tall, broad-shouldered man beneath—dark hair curving around a strong cheek, a stern mouth, eyes of molten gold that burned with patient longing.

Soldiers screamed as they stumbled backward. Another claw appeared. Then another. Slowly, an enormous creature climbed from the darkness below. Its body was covered in black scales. Its eyes burned like molten gold. Massive wings unfolded behind it, filling nearly half the sanctuary. The beast let out a deafening roar that shook the ancient ruins. Even General Varis looked terrified. "I... I didn't summon that." Kael stepped in front of Liana once more. His expression had never been more serious. "The Shadow Dragon..."

If I had to face this drakaina alone I know I would have likely fainted. Behind the Queen are two attendants. One male and one female and both very young. They are wearing matching outfits of pale blue silk, their wings small and folded behind them. The drake has a warm glow about him, like captured sunlight, his skin a tawny brown like days spent too long on a beach. His hair looks like a fallen star, starting with black at the roots and extending out in every direction with a fade from black into purple then red, orange, and finally pale blonde. His eyes are coal black.

The wind at the summit of the Obsidian Hatchery didn’t just howl; it screamed with the frequency of a dying world. These were not the dragons of myth, but primordial, fur-clad behemoths—half-wolf, half-serpent, with wings of leathery shadow that spanned thirty feet. They were the "Shadow-Stalkers," beasts that had served the High Alphas since the First Dawn, and they only answered to the resonance of a Hallowed Command.

I noticed from the corner of my eyes that the whole hall was now watching what I was. It yanked it's hand out of her chest and pretty blue dress, bringing out of it a red pumping organ. Her heart. She fell to the floor motionless and it squished her heart in its fist and dropped it to the floor beside her in a thump. It raised it's bloody hand and I could make out that it licked it's palm. "The Draekien..." Morpheus whispered beside me. I sucked in a breath as it moved and something dark fluttered in its wake. Are those.... wings?! I didn't have much time to ponder on it as the thing finally spoke.

However so were they. ‘Yes. Nor can he come back right now.’ Came Zekiel’s deep voice. Sybil looked up at the dragon. He was huge, black in color but when he shifted you could see this near blue sheen move over him. His eyes reminded her of the brightest blues in the ocean. He had a pointed face, massive black wings and onyx colored horns that swept back from the head and up in an elegant curve. He was a beautifully terrifying sight in her opinion.
