The voices rose in a keening wail, blending into one piercing shriek. Something massive hurtled through the underbrush, barreling straight towards me. I dug my heels into the spongy earth and backpedaled furiously. A blur of motion solidified into a towering humanoid shape, all sharp angles and rigid bones. It skidded to a halt mere inches from me, the impact gouging deep furrows into the forest floor. Bared fangs stretched its mottled gray flesh into a skeletal grin, lips pulled back in a deranged, mocking leer. Blank sockets stared down at me, hollows in its warped skull where eyes should have been.

Her eyes wandered to Sandro's, and she realized his once beautiful sea-green orbs were starting to turn into a darker colour. It was different from the colour of the berserker wolf which was red with golden rings around it and the normal wolf which was black and flecked with gold. This was the blackest of black. A freaking vantablack and the more she stared at it, the more she felt it drawing her in. Thalia shook her head and bit her lower lips. “Sandro!” She shouted as he began to shift. “Get the fúck out of here!” He growled, straining against the chain restricting him.

She followed my graceful exit into the darkened woods, senses straining. A rustle was her only warning before six feral figures burst from the trees with guttural howls. Bandits indeed, but these were no ordinary thugs - these beasts reeked of dark magic. Everly crouched defensively beside me, claws unsheathed. These monsters are meant to do more than rob us. The first leaped at me with unnatural speed, but I fluidly dodged its raking talons. Everly lunged to sink fangs into its flank, recoiling at the wrongness coursing through its corrupted flesh. Black magic flowed through its veins like poison instead of blood.

Rey's fingers traced the spines until they settled upon a tome titled "The Chronicles of Shadows: Unveiling the Secrets of Lycanthropy and Dark Arts." With utmost care, Rey and Lucius carried the book to a nearby table, their eyes filled with anticipation as they opened its pages. The text revealed the history and nature of Lycans, detailing their origins, abilities, and the curse that afflicted them. As they read, their knowledge expanded, shedding light on the connection between Lycans and the corruption plaguing their realm. They discovered that the Black Beast was a dark entity that thrived on chaos, capable of twisting the minds of Lycans and corrupting their instincts.

“When did they come back?” “Last night, I guess. Be careful with people around. They are too crazy to be cautioned.” Lycus hissed. The Black are a gang that deal with missing people but are also dangerous because they kidnap for fun as well, and they are always attracted to women. They are always involved in activity like rape. I hate hearing about them because of their disgusting hobbies. They always fantasized about rape. Which I hated more. My gang only deals with hotels and gambling and weapons with other supplies, but we don't hurt women and kids unlike them.

I couldn't find the answer in any book. Yes, the dark ones had women, they were all black-haired and black-eyed, pale and infirm, they often died very early and did not possess magic at all. I had light brown hair and gray eyes, average height and a thin body. As for the darkness, she behaved very strangely, then calmed down for a long time, then again tormented me with strange dreams at night. Most often, I dreamed of a dense forest, through which I ran with a wildly pounding heart and completely naked. Branches hit my face, roots of plants dug into my legs, and a huge dark cloud always tried to catch up with me from behind.
