The former knight smiled weakly. "I apologize for my appearance." Grey ignored the joke. He grabbed Lyon's wolf head and put his own forehead against Lyon’s. "Look at me." Lyon obeyed. Grey searched his face desperately. No vacant stare. No confusion. No feral instincts. Only exhaustion. Only relief.

The man—Alpha Grayson, if I was remembering correctly—folded his arms. “Just wondering how you expect us to believe that. Fire that strong doesn't just disappear.”

They moved with predatory grace, forming a semicircle before the platform. The back door of the center vehicle opened. What stepped out was not merely a man. It was a force of nature.
