She tells him looking at him from top to bottom, surely judging him by his tattoos or by the way she heard me talk to him yesterday.
"Excuse me, ma'am," Black says, "I don't know what you mean by that?”
I settle wet hair back and get in between both.
“I'm telling you, mom. You don't need to do this. Go inside and lie down, please.”
“I just wanted to know who it was." She replies and turns to Black, “I hope you take care of my girl. She's the most important thing I have in my life.” My mom says.
Black gulps, evidently uncomfortable.
