The wood splintered and flew across the room, and standing in the doorway was the largest wolf I'd ever seen.
It was massive, easily the size of a small horse, with midnight black fur that seemed to absorb the light around it. But what made my blood run cold were its eyes or rather, the distinctive red circles painted around them, like war paint or ritual markings.
